A&M has been in the league for 10 years and will still be in the same position they were from Day 1. I’d give Texas the edge over OU. Austin (while parts are a shithole) is still better than Norman.

People always downplay quality of life. Quality of life is infinitely better in Austin than College Station or Norman, especially if you have money. Buy him a hillside house overlooking Lake Austin or Lake Travis, get him a condo/townhouse close to campus when he’s working late hours during the season and doesn’t want to make the drive home. Now they won’t have all the SECN commitments when they join the SEC, which I’m sure their previous few coaches hated.
Not saying A&M or OU are bad jobs, but, for me, they’d have to throw a whole lot more cash at me than UT to not take that job.

Yeah, but they've been down the past few years. And money is going to be a problem for OU. I think it is going to be hard for OU to keep up facilities wise with other SEC schools and also with NIL. My nephew goes to OU on A big scholarship. I'd never visited OU until he started school there. I was surprised at how underwhelming the campus and town of Norman was. I was expecting much more.

IMO I could see OU going the way of Nebraska when they entered BIG 10. I think Texas schools have their destiny in their own hands based on in state recruiting.

NIL is eventually going to completely change CFB into something unrecognizable

I've lived in Texas for 25 years. Moved here right after graduation. The hill country west of Austin is awesome. But, the university is right smack in the middle of the city. Austin has become a real shithole the last 10 or so years due to the city's liberal politics. Homeless people are all over the city trashing it up. I wouldn't want to live in the actual city of Austin, nor would I want my kids to live there. Norman is a small town and the campus is underwhelming. Boring on game day as well. Tailgating sucks there.

Atm just had Fisher who, when hired, was an “elite coach who’s won a championship”.
He had the same record there as Kevin Sumlin.

Oklahoma has a large, wealthy fan base. A lot of rich oil people are Oklahoma fans. No reason they won’t be a top program like they always have been.

I think it depends on what a person considers a great quality of life. The hill country outside of Austin is gorgeous. But, the University is right in the middle of the city, not in the Hill country. Austin traffic is horrible and you'd have to deal with it daily going to and from work. I live outside of Dallas now, and previously lived in Houston. Austin traffic is just as bad. And about to get worse for the next 10 years with the big txdot project on I-35 right by the campus.
For me, traffic is a big part of what effects my quality of life, so Austin would be out if I was choosing between the 3 schools.
College Station and its neighboring city of Bryan have a combined population of over 200,000 (not counting students). To me, that is an ideal size. Plenty of shopping, nightlife, restaurants, churches, public and private schools to choose from, several hospitals, wide range of housing options/prices etc. My oldest is a freshman at A&M and we've already come to love the school and College Station.
Norman is too small for my tastes. And the state of Oklahoma is just pure trash. Pretty sure it is the meth capital of our country.

Y'all can talk about NIL all you want but if paying the most for players equated to wins the Yankees and Dodgers would be in the World Series every year. Don't think for a second that a lot of guys taking big money for NIL won't half arse it once they have their bag. Sure you will need to spend money but culture of the program will still matter a lot.

Except for those pesky spring and early summer tornadoes, OU above UT or Aggie. Culture of winning, no interference, fanbase as dedicated as LSU's, and a campus that feels and looks like a college campus. College Station looks like Army barracks and UT looks like a corporate complex.
