Just yesterday you were telling us about replacements for Crowton.

Now, Crowton says he's staying.

What gives? Did something change or is Crowton completely wrong?

Crowton says that he expects to stay, not that he IS staying. Big difference.

He said that Miles was fishing for replacements.

I imagine it was in case Crowton left.

He also said that Les did the same thing last year (look for replacements) and could very well end up doing the same thing this year. That is, keep Gary. No wonder Belowpar gets a bad wrap. There are some seriously short retention going on around here.

NO

He said its not a sure thing that Crouton would be leaving

Said that Les did some talking last year but did not overly like any particular candidate

Was doing the same this year.

BP warned that Crowton might actually stay. IF, like last year, Les wasnt overwhelmed by any one candidate.

Couldn't be said any better. Well, maybe if you typed it a bit angrier.

Seriously, which of you would EXPECT Crowton to say "Oh, no. I am going to be fired!"

Really??

He is under contract and working at LSU NOW. He is preparing for a bowl game and is involved (minimally) in recruiting. Yet, you guys think he is going to say "I will NOT be back next season"? If you had another year on your contract, YOU would do nothing to give cause for termination. You would say EXACTLY what he is saying. Then, IF you get fired, you still collect the money.

JEEBUS!!!

BTW, which one of you thinks this is the final word?

Sometimes, I hate us!

What do you expect Crowton to come out and say... "I don't expect that I'll be at LSU next year, the fans don't want me back, the head coach doesn't want me back. i'm not sure what I'm going to do, but I don't expect to be back at LSU next year."

I'm not saying Crowton is gone, but I don't think him coming out and saying that he expects to be back next year means anything at all.

these types of things are fluid. what is true today can change tonight.

unless miles himself makes a post on here noone really knows until its done, but we sometimes hear info on situations. just because its true then does not mean it cant or wont change

Even you are on the edge of your seat with this...

Miles is completely stubborn and blind if he can't see that Crowton is a huge contribution in this stagnant offense. The facts are all there through his entire career. LSU has had a stagnant offense since the second half of 08 and is loaded with blue chip players like Rueben and RS, yet we're horrible?

I find it hard to believe our entire 5 star WR group refuses to just develop and they're all turning into "busts"...

...Or maybe Miles is more to blame on the offense than Crowton. Who really knows...

Absolutely, I've gotten to the point where I don't buy anything on the coaching changes board until something comes up on ESPN or SI's site as a done deal.

Until then, it's all speculation.

I hope you're right in this instance. For our entire team's sake.

FWIW, I'm in the minority here, but I know a close friend of Crowtons and from all the discussions I've had with him regarding Crowton, I truly believe Crowton is a bright offensive mind.

I just don't think Crowton holds his players accountable as much as some coaches and I also think he's kind of a pushover and that lack of urgency and that lack of fear players are supposed to have of letting down their coach sometimes shows on the field with his players IMO. He also doesn't seem to be very good at developing QBs. (Pelini is the exact opposite of Crowton in terms of style...Pelini isn't the brightest Xs and Os coach but he holds his players accountable and absolutely refuses to accept failure from his players as where Crowton is more of a nurturer and hand-holder). IMO niether Pelini's nor Crowton's style is the right style...you need to be somewhere in the middle to have long-term success.

If he would ever lose the pride and allow someone else(preferably a hard-arse) to come in and coach the QBs, I believe Crowton could do well focusing on just the playcalling. Because I truly believe he has a bright mind when it comes to game-planning and play calling.

Also, from what I hear, when it comes to Crowton and Miles within the locker room, Miles is actually supposedly the "hard arse" and Crowton is supposedly the good cop when it comes to players, etc. I know that's hard to believe as most think Miles is such a mild-mannered good guy, but I've heard from multiple sources that Miles often is the bad cop and Crowton is the good cop and it actually kinda works well together.
