Its all about doing a job. He gets paid a shitton of money and as a result the expectations are high. I understand Perilloux screwed him, I understand the individual talent of the QBs on the roster might be limited, but its your job to find a way to make that work. But he's just not doing that. We have no offensive identity, the players' execution is simply not very sharp, hence Shep not knowing where the hell he's supposed to be, and the result is what it is - near the bottom of the SEC for the SECOND year in a row.

Perhaps I misinterpreted your post, but to me, you were implying that a Saban coached team does not make as many stupid mistakes as a result of him yelling at them more.

you obviously have never had teen age boys or coached teen agers (under 25). chewing them out is one approach that needs to happen sometimes. not all the time, but for a young man to step up he needs to want to, but he needs to fear the result of his screw-ups too. anyone that played at a high level will agree with this. i'll bet steven ridley understands this concept.

All football teams makes mistakes. Lots of them. It's the nature of the game. There is no such thing as perfect football.
Typically, teams don't win football games. Teams lose football teams, and the other team happens to be the beneficiary of that.
Saban't teams make plenty of mistakes. I've seen it with my own eyes time and time again. So do Belichek's teams. And so does every other coaches teams.
It's more about motivation than it is the actual mistake. Players, especially at the college level, need to have the fire lit in their belly sometimes, and if that's missing, sometimes you get inconsistent, lackluster play.

Different people respond to different motivation. Sometimes we all will respond to "a good chewing out." This was actually the go to approach when I played in H.S.

No, I have coached. I have also played sports. I can tell you that having a coach calmly explain what someone does wrong and to encourage them to keep trying is much better than getting yelled it. If they still don't get it then bench them. Getting yelled at doesn't do anything but cause problems.

Depends on the kid and how many times you have to calmly explain it.

Exactly. I coach high school football and this is true. Different children respond to different forms of motivation.

You were correct in the fact that it was a misinterpretation. What I was implying was that Saban holds his players accountable for everything they do. You see, some people act like these kids are fragile. They're football players for Jesus' sake. I see kids every day at practice who are explained to calmly, and they show no hustle and motivation to get on the ball and run the play. Maybe it's different in your neck of the woods.

Personally, a little bit of both. I think there needs to be a happy medium between motivation and yelling at a player.
As it relates to motivation, different people are motivated by different means. Great coaches recognize this and use any and all methods to motivate players based upon their individuality. Its never a "one size fits all.." type of thing.
