Be realistic about coach O

Is he the best option? No. but he would not take us back to the cellar of the SEC. He would keep 99% of the in state talent and he at least doesn't run the same damn plays over and over again. That alone would keep us in 10 to 11 win seasons every year and still give us a better chance at beating Bama every year than we had under Miles the past 5 years.

Any coach who does not play Les Miles brand of football would be fun to watch.

Man, I remember football when I was a kid smuggling whiskey into the stadium in my underwear.

Basically what you are saying is..."im okay with settling for above average".
And even if that were okay (it's not), O has not shown that he can build or mantain "above average".

What people are not understanding about Coach Oeaux is that he loves big guys and big guys love him back. He will recruit the trenches really well and that is the key to winning the SEC. I would assume after a couple of years with him at the helm we will have the best O and D-lines in the SEC or neck and neck with Bama. As long as he hires the right OC and keeps Aranda things could be very, very good for LSU.

It's scary how nonchalantly you pass over this

Why would any fanbase be interested in less than the best possible hire? Why would any major program be content with any coach who doesn't have a chance to be dominant?
Hiring a world class head coach is like trying to get a hole in one. You can not predict you will get what you want on any given attempt, but you want to make your absolute best effort every time and with skill and repetition you will sink one eventually.
You do not lay up for a bogey - or a par if you get lucky.

In that case, he shouldn't be given the job.

TL;DR
Guys let's just be ok with settling for les miles 2.0.

Running he's own program, he is 20-3 in 1 1/2 years with several wins over teams with 3 times the talent he has.
You can't just blindly ignore that, all the while trusting O can do it because of two interim stints where he's totalled 10-2 so far. Against teams with much less talent than he has.

Name one coach on your list that has maintained a team winning 10 to 11 games a season for a period of time. Don't give me Jimbo because he sucks this year.

We don't know if this is will be true at the end of the season or not. If LSU wins out then how do you say he is not the best option? He would have beaten potentially 3 top ten teams to win out and finished the season in the top ten. I would argue that an interim coaching job is harder than taking over a program in its first year. You have very little time to change things from a system that wasn't working to a system that works.
Whoever is rooting for LSU to lose just so Coach O doesn't get the job is a piece of crap in my opinion! I didn't pull for LSU to lose so they would fire Les and I wouldn't do it now. Those players work to hard for their fans to root against them.
I think all the weak minded over reacting posters should take a break. Everything is speculative right now. As a fan, just pull for your team to win and the best available coach is hired..... Whoever it is!

Why settle for anything but the best option though?

Maybe the best option is not available? It can have as much to do with timing and family issues more than anything. Read the hint there. That could be a strong possibility. Then you geaux with the guy who is the best fit who vows to make certain needed changes and already shown that he is willing to do that.

I'm not saying I want coach O. I like him and I think he would be good but not great.
I'm also realistic unlike many LSU fans. Most of you expect the next coach to have Saban type success and I hate to break it to you but that is not going to happen.

LOL
So you ask a question that you know the answer to, but then disqualify the correct answer?
Every sane person in America knows jimbo has rebuilt and sustained FSU. 3 losses this year doesn't change that.
As far as mantaining a winning program in today's college football, jimbo ranks right behind saban and urban, and ahead of harbaugh and Peterson.
That's just a fact.
