Any reason why you think Kelly never landed a big time QB? I know some positions standards limit you on but I wouldn’t think that’s one of them. Hell it seemed he had worse luck with his more highly recruited guys

How big time do you need? Hes signed the #8 and #11 QBs in last 2 classes and has the #16 committed this year.

who is responsible for the OL studs ND has been putting into the league then?

The big studs (Ronnie Stanley, McGlinchey, Quenton Nelson, the Martin brothers, etc.) were mostly under Harry Hiestand.

What is the reason for relying on a backup QB transfer from Wisconsin this year?

Maybe once he meets Brad Davis, he will understand why we might want to keep him.

Current OL coach of a team that's about to fire it's staff. Excellent

Yes, I’m sure “the scrub from Wisconsin” is why they’ve won so many games this year.

Could be the top 10 recruiting classes or future NFL linemen.

Why don’t you message Kelly and ask him?

This reaction tells me all I need to know. LSU should be thrilled to bring these guys on.

Yes. Hence the question about QB development.

You realize this is a board where people discuss topics related to football?

He landed Gunner Kiel as you all will remember. Wimbush was the #3 dual threat QB in his class and #46 nationally. Tyler Buchner (freshman who saw some time this year) was 71st overall in his class. Dayne Crist (Weis recruit that Kelly inherited) was a 5 star.

It just never clicked with those guys. Wimbush had a monster first half of 2017 and then teams figured out he generally didn’t go past his first read. Crist was a bit of a mental midget but also had a pretty bad injury he just never recovered from. Kiel was a headcase. Buchner has shown some real potential.

Kelly did squeeze every ounce out of guys like Ian Book.

How he played without a chest was mind blowing

People on the Twitter say Jeff Quinn sucks. Is this true?

No. I'm not familiar with anyone but Quinn and Rees, but those are both unsurprising but big gets to have tag along. Don't read too much into the ND sour grapes you're inevitably going to be seeing.

Man I wish Brad Davis could find a place on Kelly's squad but Kelly's teams always have fantastic lines so it's hard to argue him being replaced.

I like Davis but if Quinn is the one that was putting these ND guys into the NFL the last decade, it’s a no brainer.
Davis didn't last at Florida, Missouri, Arkansas and hasn't done jack shite with the OL in 2021 at LSU. (They were dysfunctional at the start of the season and are still making Max run for his life and rush passes against A&M)

I've never seen so many message board geeks be so enamored of an Assistant Coach that hasn't done shite at LSU in one season as Brad Davis.

Let Davis coach running backs as a replacement for Faulk if you want to keep him on the Staff.

It's way past time to significantly raise the standards of the entire program now under Kelly at all the coaching positions. (This will a tough one for all the die hard MA's and MAMM's)..........
