The impact Frank had at a LSU is far greater than anything Thomas has done at LSU and will have at Tennessee
LSU hasn't sniffed an SEC West/SEC title since AT has been doing the DOPP/GM thing at LSU.

Don't get the reasoning for everybody slobbering all over him.

Dude is a "Recruiting Geek" that had connections.

Our classes are heavy on skill positions, too light in numbers on the DL and unacceptably deficient in the OL. (Where the recruiting has been damn right embarrassing)

Where are the Championship trophies? We don't have any because the talent of the overall program (Coaching and Recruiting) has not what it needs to be. Austin Thomas has been here that entire time. He's not that much of a difference maker as so many on the Geek Squad seem to think. Show me the hardware that Thomas is responsible for................

Stevens

Stevens was all Corey Raymond. In interviews leading up to signing day, Stevens would say how hard Saban was going after him and his response was as long as Raymond is at LSU, he's not flipping.
quote:

“If Corey Raymond is there, I was going to sign there. That was a done deal for me,” Stevens told SEC Country.

“After Corey Raymond signed that contract, they still tried to get me to go there, but I told them I didn’t want to go. He (Derrick Ansley) just wished me luck and that he can’t wait to play against me.”

Hiring Watson has no impact on whether or not AT comes to Knoxville. Thomas could be named GM, Director of Player Personnel, or even special assistant to the head coach.

the entire staff just got raises except for Thomas, who stayed at $125,000.

if he leaves it will because our AD is fricking idiot.

Alleva probably didn't give Austin Thomas a raise in hopes he leaves. I'm sure he sees Thomas taking his job.

Frank Wilson did more for recruiting than Austin ever did.
LSU is going to be fine with or without Austin.
There's a lot to criticize Alleva for, this ain't one of them.

I think it's the fact LSU is not recognizing how much Austin could do for such a bargain. Frank was clearly on a head coaching path and continues to do well so I think there's a pretty big difference between the two. Losing Frank was a massive hit to recruiting, though.

I'm sure Austin Thomas is a good guy and I wish him nothing but the best, but you would think he's Bill Brasky by reading this board.

So now he's qualified to be a major D1 athletic director? So much so that our current AD is scared of him and is trying to get rid of him?

This board sometimes ...

It was good enough to have fielded the best OL in CFB last year.

Wow, someone actually gets it also! We have seen a huge imbalance in recruiting since he has been named DOPP/GM. I am not impressed.

We should have never had to rely on true freshman for the OL.

Do some tiger fans really not understand how important Austin Thomas is to our program? If we lose him that is a major blow.
