Auburn can't offer what LSU and USC can.

19-13 the last 3 years isn't really doing well at Penn State. Only one bowl win, over Memphis, the past 5 years.

This. As a Penn Stater, I like Franklin but overall, he has defecated the bed too many times.
- blew 4th quarter leads against OSU in 2017, 2018, 2022
- choked against MSU in 2017, missing a playoff spot
- choked against a decent Minnesota team in 2019, missing a playoff spot
- blew 4th quarter lead against Michigan in 2021

The o line has been a recurring issue his entire tenure, which may or may not help contribute to late game defensive collapses against good teams. We are in a weird situation with Franklin - if we get rid of him, will the new guy be any better? There’s only been about 5 or 6 programs that have consistently been better than PSU since 2016. But, it seems like his ceiling has been reached.

I know people are down on you because you where ultimately wrong on the hire last year, but Josh pate calling you out by name and directly mentioning your post on late kick last year was an all time TD moment

George O’Leary is the front runner but they’re still looking over his resume.

Beware of smokescreens.

As an LSU fan, I kind of miss this but really don't

We are all gluttons for punishment. The only thing I’d take over mediocrity is a good old fashioned coaching search!

Last year was full of them.

Riley was in the mix. People can say what they want. Kelly was talked about in conversation. I thought Kelly would never come here. I am close with decision makers but not a decision maker. I am glad that I was wrong.

Lincoln Riley is not doing that bad either in although an easier conference.

What have I seen from the last 3 LSU HCs? All were older and had no young children. Riley is a young HC with young children. Not want to be there due to a wrong fit for his family. Makes more sense for older HC with grown children to take the LSU job. It has worked out okay so far.

Their QB play has been mediocre at best for several years now. Overall talent hasn't been a problem there. They send plenty of high draft picks to the NFL.

He better hope Drew Allar is an upgrade over Sean Clifford. I'd be a little bit nervous that all of Allar's single season passing records at Medina got broken right after he left. If Allar is as good as he's supposed to be, he could have them back in playoff contention.

Phillip Marshall (Auburn 247 author / staff) dropped his prediction this evening:

.

I don’t know what your definition of “young” is, but both Miles and Saban had elementary school aged children when they were hired by LSU
