Assuming there is a tentative deal with Riley, I wonder if it will survive the firestorm

Of publicity that is coming.

This will be a massive story, if true. I presume all manner of pressure will be brought to bear by OU administrators, alumni, boosters, players, recruits, and fans.

Even if there is a written contract or term sheet/LOI, Riley could still walk away. Realistically, no one is going to sue to enforce a personal services contract.

The next 72 hours should be fascinating if Riley is the selection.

I feel like this place has more effect on what the local and National media finally look into than we think, and we are insane about it, which causes national scrutiny way earlier than for most schools.

These type of situations always give me pause. There’s no done deal until his name is signed on a contract.

The media has been as clueless as we have. Probably even more so. This looks like a done deal. Just get Lincoln on campus and turn the keys over to him. I'm sure QB Walker, T Campbell, G Jones, RB Citizen, T Bordelon, etc are ready to go to war and win, not counting the super frustrated players since 2019 who have been in a dumpster fire.

A 100 million dollar personal service contract, damn straight someone would sue, and the violator would be black balled

This isn’t like recruiting a high school kid. Decisions like this are made by mature adults and a lot of thought and consideration went into the decision. They don’t just change their mind because of twitter or news reports.

If Riley is leaving I doubt it’s just about money. Oklahoma would have matched the money or come close enough. The last few years might have convinced him that he just can’t get the recruits to compete with the big time SEC powers due to the lack of in-state talent.

Alabamas idiot softball coach was IN purple and gold. Held a press conference. And THEN backed out. So no. It’s not done until it’s done.

Adults change their minds all the time on major life decisions. Not saying he will renege, but it us naive to believe that it is impossible in the crucible of media attention and pressure.

You have been trying to downplay any good news since O was fired. You want this hire to strike out so bad. And when it doesn't, you can rest assured you will be on here complaining about the size of the contract.

Anyone remember when Pat Sullivan held a press conference saying he was taking the LSU head football coaching job?

He's already recruiting for LSU. It's already done. Period.

OU recruits are on twitter. They see the smoke. Nobody from OU has calmed the waters. It's happening
