If the Army can pay $1300 for a toilet, then Saban should be worth $100 mill per year.

West Point is the "Texas" of service academies.

It is strange that out to army, navy and air force, army lags. It would seem army would be the easiest out of those 3 to win at football.

They need a coach that doesn't run the old school triple option. Hell hire Brett Lashlee(sp). Auburns offense would thrive at Army.

It wasn't that long ago when their records vs each other wee almost even, and I even remember a stat showing the total scoring was almost exactly even. That was before this navy streak.
Seems lately navy has put more emphasis on winning (hiring a legit coach,etc)

As much as I would enjoy following Rhett at Army, it just isn't a wise career choice.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Army is giving waivers for height weight restrictions for the lineman and have been doing this since the restrictians were implemented. They are small for today's standard lineman but that is probably more of a function of the type of O-lineman that they want to run the triple option than waivers for height/weight. They probablly prefer smaller, quicker lineman to execute the zone blocking scheme used in the wishbone.

As with football players from all of the Academies they will have to meet respective standards prior to commissioning.

I firmly believe that the lack of success Army is currently having is a function of coaching, quality of life at respective academies, the rise of football for the smaller schools, and cultural/media influence for this generation.

Coaching they need a coach that will run a modern version of the option instead of the antiquated wishbone attack. Defenses figured out how to defend it in the 80's.

I can't speak for today but West Point has always had a reputation of having stricter rules for the cadets than the other academies. This has to be considered by current recruits.

Additionally, the Navy has done an excellent job of marketing themselves as the home of the elite warriors with the recent success of the Navy Seals and having pretty cool toys with the modern fleet/aircraft. For the past ten years Army recruits have been guaranteed to rotate between Iraq and Afghanistan once their football careers are over. The last time Army has had success as a program was the years immediately following Desert Storm/Panama Canal and has spiraled out of control since 2003. I don't think this is a coincidence and it is weighed heavily in the minds of recruits coming out of high school today.

Somebody said Mack Brown. I wonder if he or West Point would consider such a move? By all acounts he is a good man and great coach, thats exactly what Army needs. Now i understand its probably a stretch, but if i was Army, id give him a call and see how interested he would be. Getting Army, a service academy, back to respectability could really change and cement Mack Brown's legacy as a great coach.

Old school Triple option requires demon speed to really attack the opponent. They would be better with one of those run-based modern zone read offenses.
They really need to follow the CJ approach and put their best athletes on defense. They're Ds have been atrocious, and the level of atrocity has been hidden by their clock-running offense that has kept aggregate scores down.
