Going to be nice to see what Chaney can do at a quality school, with quality coaches around him, and with quality players in his system. He has done pretty good at that crap show called UT the past few years and Lord knows that isn't easy.

the reason he abonded the run is beucase you didn't have shite for a running back and you had WR's out the azz

i said the first game of the year, Derrick Henry would be an idiot for going anywhere other than Tennesse. he's exactly what you guys needed last year a 230 pound bruising frick you up running back. that's why he abonded the run. your best RB is a converted WR

I have been very complementary of Pittman itt.

I think most Vol fans would tell you they wish Chaney the best, but they won't lose any sleep over this. Hell, it's not like these guys left Tennessee for this job.

Not sure what's unreasonable about what I've posted.

We were averaging over 5 YPC against Mizzou. We ended the game with 22 straight passing plays. Zero runs spanning over 4 overtime periods.

That's my problem with Chaney.

i think BB will offset this problem. He won't call plays but he will have input on game days. I doubt dooley had the balls to get that involved with the offense.

Random question:

Did you guys ever use a FB under Chaney or was it all single back sets?

Last year's Tennessee offense was the second worst in school history. This year's was the second best.

Didn't Bray and Hunter miss a lot of time with injuries last year? I know Worley started against us

Our most common personnel packages were

1. Shotgun, 3 WR, 1 RB, 1 TE

2. Shotgun, 4 WR, 1 RB

3. Pistol, 2 WR, 2 TE, 1 RB

4. Pistol, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB, 1 FB

5. Shotgun, 5 WR

6. Offset I, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB, 1 FB

7. Ace, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB

8. Wildcat: We ran this with 4 different QBs and this was our primary goal line package

Not much at all from under center. And redzone playcalling was atrocious until Dooley brought in AJ Johnson to run "The Beast" package out of the wildcat.

Thanks, that's great info. I really appreciate it.

Have to make sure that my man Kiero gets to see the field.

Probably the least exciting thing about this hire from both a Chaney standpoint and a BB standpoint is that both condone the Wildcat still. There is nothing that is going to make me sicker than seeing us trying to run some jacked up, watered down version of the Wildcat.

No one runs it like we did with DMac and Felix and I would prefer to see no one on our sideline even attempt it again.

As far as playcalling, mostly just basic throws. We took about a shot a possession usually to either Hunter or CP. The rest was mostly underneath stuff.

Not much tricky outside of reverses and pitches to CP. You can also count on random uses of the wildcat to kill at least one drive a game.

Best part about Chaney was his persistence in trying to get CP and Hunter the ball. Nothing too fancy just repetition in trying to get them the ball. They weren't wasted.

sounds like he trys to adjust to whatever personnel he has. That seems to be the BB theme which is great because with our recruiting situation our style will need to fluctuate year to year a little bit to win consistently.

Thanks for the breakdown. One thing I like about the Chaney hire is his experience in a variety of offenses through the NFL and college. We actually have some good pieces returning to field a pretty potent offense, and I'm sure he will tailor his offense to fit his peronnel. Small is a huge asset to our running game, and we have plethora of receivers. It also seeems as if he is a good developer of quarterbacks. Pittman is an exciting hire. Tyler Wilson spent way too much time looking through his chinstrap the past couple of years. I Expect O-line play to improve dramatically. Couple of good young running backs also. We may not set the conference on fire, but I bet we will compete in every game, providing Bielema and Ash can develop some depth at LB and improve secondary play.

Chaney worked more with the tight ends and offensive line here than quarterbacks. He was the "quarterbacks coach" here for one year, but mostly worked with the line which is more his area of expertise.

I stand corrected. Obviously we are putting an emphasis on O-line play, which is really exciting to me.

Pittman is a great offensive line coach and a Rivals top 25 recruiter..He was the only coach other than Jay Graham I would have liked to have kept.
