Just asking, how do you know he sucks?
he’s definitely not getting the same production out of his defense like any other coordinator Saban has had.

Did any past Alabama quarterback have a high-powered offense on the other side?

It’s not a coincidence that starting with Tua, the defense got worse - statistically.

It’s still top 10.

So, Saban is a dumbass for hiring, promoting, and retaining him, right? You in fact know better.

Alabama is 7th in the country in total defense and 5th in defensive efficiency

These people care more about getting pwned on the SEC rant than on actual coaching credentials.

“But the Bama fans will laugh!”

What's changed?

Our head coach.

The profile for the best assistants under Kelly isn't exactly the same as it was under Orgeron.

I see him like Steele- an ok coach on his own who greatly benefited from working under Saban. He and Gooding were/are at Bama because of their recruiting abilities more than their X and O prowess.

Steele was incredibly mediocre at LSU, but did fine at Auburn with better talent (at least during that one season. Our D’s talent level got a lot better after he left). However, he was never a defensive mastermind. He ran a straightforward defense that worked because of the talent level.

I think Golding could work similarly well at LSU if the roster is replenished and holes filled. However, he isn’t going to out-scheme guys like Briles and Lebby like a Mike Elko or a Dave Aranda can. He will have to have top talent to succeed.

How do you explain Steele's success at Auburn under Malzahn?

We don’t have a shrimp boat captain head coach. I trust Kelly can articulate what he wants from his defense

This is retarded. Golding has been pretty bad under the greatest defensive coach of all time but you think he would be good here? That’s ridiculous

Steele also got demoted by Saban after one year and never coordinated for him again. I guess Nick's just gotten too nice in his old age to do that again.

I’m gonna go ahead and assume that if Nick Saban hires you to help coach his defense, you are good at your job.

Come on guys, this isn’t that hard

He did a great job recruiting and had a really strong defense until that started to slip. Check the stats on last defense at Auburn. He was slipping because the recruiting slipped.

My point was just that he isn’t a guy who’s going to bear people by out-scheming them. It’s hard to say for certain, but I think there’s a strong possibility that Golding will be similar. That doesn’t mean he can’t succeed.

Stetson Bennett is 10-12 for 135 yards and a TD after the first quarter. Golding fricking sucks and anyone wanting him at LSU is a dumbass
