I guess the terrible year for Texas has eliminated mention of the BR home town boy who is the UT assistant head coach/running backs coach and former OC at Bama and Rice..........

He sucked as OC ... think about it. He left OC position at Bama to take a RB coach position (lowest on the totem pole) at his alma mater with a HC that's known to be loyal as a fault.

Major essentially was fired by Saban and I don't want him as OC at LSU until he proves that he's a good coach.

Re: Monken.

It seemed like he did a pretty good job here as WR coach, but my philosophy would be that you have to have OC experience to have the job at LSU.

Gonzales is not on the short list? Not saying he should be, but there has been a lot of talk about that in the past.

Considering he was the passing game coordinator this year, he is definitely due a promotion.

Michael C. "Mike" Leach, J.D. (born March 9, 1961(1961-03-09) in Susanville, California), is the former head coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders football team.[2] Leach had a winning season every year during his tenure at Tech. Wishbone formation creator Emory Bellard has stated that Leach does the best job of any offensive coordinator in the nation.[3] Leach is currently an announcer for CBS College Sports Network.[4]

Personal life
Born to Frank and Sandra Leach[5] in Susanville, California, Mike Leach claims Cody, Wyoming, as his hometown.[6] He graduated from Cody High School before studying at Brigham Young University, where he closely followed the exploits of the Brigham Young Cougars. The Cougars, guided by head coach LaVell Edwards and offensive coordinator Norm Chow, played a pass-oriented offense. Leach graduated in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in American Studies.[7]

In 1986, Leach earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Pepperdine University School of Law. Leach is also one of the most prominent graduates of the United States Sports Academy, from which he earned a Master's of Sports Science/Coaching in 1988. Leach is married with four children. He was raised a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Coaching career
0ffensive scheme
Leach is known for building some very potent offenses, directing very prolific passing-oriented teams that have broken school and NCAA records at Valdosta State and Kentucky where he was offensive coordinator under Hal Mumme, developing their (in)famous "Air Raid Offense",[10] at Oklahoma under head coach Bob Stoops,[11] and Texas Tech, where he became head coach in 2000. Leach's spread offense relies heavily on passing and he has seen several of his quarterbacks post NCAA records. At Kentucky he tutored prospect Tim Couch into a No. 1 NFL draft pick. At Oklahoma, Josh Heupel became an NFL draft pick following a year under Leach's tutelage.

Leach also coached the biggest comeback in NCAA Division I-A bowl game history in the 2006 Insight Bowl versus the University of Minnesota. With Texas Tech trailing 38–7 in the third quarter, the Red Raiders overcame this 31 point deficit and beat the Golden Gophers 44–41 in overtime, topping BYU's 28 point comeback against SMU in the 1980 Holiday Bowl. In addition, Leach won the 2008 Gator Bowl 31-28 after trailing 28–14 with 3:39 remaining.

why no Dana Holgorsen? he is very realistic and lives out or a suit case in a hotel apartment type thing. He is single, with no family, and has said publicly he lives like that so he is ready to leave at any time.

we can defiantly give him a larger salary and LSU > OK lite.

I understand UT and UF want him but he is realistic and should be the #1 candidate by far imo.

If we dont get him though I would like whipple. Uses a run based offense to set up the play action and is a good teacher of fundamentals.

I think T. Boone Pickens would have something to say about that.

Few reasons I doubt him being realistic.

1) Gundy hates Miles and probably would tell Dana that Miles would hold him down (I know people who work at OSU who have said Gundy has expressed that Miles "held him back."
2) He's near enough to getting a head coaching gig, he will likely just wait it out.
3) He returns most of his offensive pieces next year rather than having to come to LSU and build up what has been poor the previous two years and risk damaging his rep.

I think he's a great coach, and I'd love to have him... I just personally don't see him as realistic.

Interesting. I didn't know that.

What do you think an offensive coordinator under houston nutt does? he has no real experience running an entire offense.

I'd say they shared equal responsibility.

Henning ran it at Carolina.

Lee ran it at Arkansas.

Both joined together at Miami and implemented it.

Pretty sure Lee won an award and was given a heavy piece of the credit though.

It's too bad that Lee never called the plays at Arkansas, Nutt always did outside of Gus' short tenure there. You must not know much about Nutt run teams if you honestly believe Lee called any plays. He's a scrub.
