My first thought too. I think that's exactly what FSU needs whether it's Kelly or not.

About the only thing Taggart did well was getting guys to attend class on a regular basis. The improvement of off the field behavior didn't come close to translating on to the field.

FSU is gonna pass on the beloved by players Odell to hire some Midwestern honkey hardass with no experience in the South? This will go over amazingly. Please god, do this. They'd lose a dozen players before spring practice and half their remaining commits.

Making hires to keep recruiting classes intact is a bad move.

That's probably a good thing.

This group of players should be ignored

You know, I think he'd be damn good at FSU.

MUCHHHHH easier to recruit and an easier schedule.

Notre Dame isn't as easy of a place to recruit to as FSU, but it ain't exactly Rice, either, man.

Kelly has consistently pulled in top 10 - 15 classes every single year (and Weis pulled in a couple of top 5 classes, including a #1 overall class after post-signing day attrition) with, shall we say, less than stellar effort on the recruiting trail.

If that happened, surely Urban Meyer to his dream job at Notre Dame.

Not gonna lie, I’d actually be very curious to see if Meyer could make it work at ND. He’s clearly one of the best of his generation, I could buy that winning it all at a 3rd school and doing so at ND after so many years of irrelevance could be the ultimate feather in his cap. But could he get the type of players he needs there is the challenge

This would be fun just because of the potential coaching dominoes.

You left out a key word there. The solution is to make a good hire that most current players and future recruits will respect. Odell is not a serious candidate and will stay on staff after the hire, so as long as the HC has substance, most of this will be mitigated. That shite wouldn't fly with Kelly though, he would piss off way too many players and his signature accomplishment is getting btfo by Alabama.

I think Mark Stoops should have been their main target, but the interest there doesn't appear to be mutual, so idk. ESD makes it nigh impossible to pull an NFL guy.

Not sure Kelly would want to move from a school and city that covers up both rape by players and murder by the HC.

They seem to be swinging high. Sure they have the money for this? That buyout wasn't big and Kelly would cost upwards of 10 million to bring him and a staff on if not more. I wonder how many coaches would risk this. It's easily a good job to win at with a joke of a schedule outside of Clemson and UF. Great recruiting grounds. But don't forget. FSU is so close to not being able to go to championships, their APR is literally the worst in the power five.

Meyer turned down the Notre Dame job in '04 because of ND's entrance requirements for players. nothing has changed much at ND on those entrance requirements.
