They wouldn't, regardless of how badly some LSU fans want it to be true. For this kind of offer they could get Bellichick, Cowher, or some other massive NFL success and not take a chance on Saban. It's ridiculous that anyone with a triple digit IQ would believe it, which is why the OP has run to the interwebz to post it in as many places as possible. He's foolish enough to believe if he posts it enough it might actually happen.

I posted it because it would be the craziest offer in NFL history. I never said I believed it. I only said it's the type of thing that would force Nick to listen.

Y'all are some insecure mofos today.

It's not that I believe it's true, especially since Hanigriff is likely behind this, but what I do believe is that Sexton is leaking rumors to get a raise for his client.

Just to be clear, Hanagriff didn't throw it out there. It was something Ponamsky SUPPOSEDLY verified from various NFL sources.

it's on the right board and it's a new rumor about the coach maybe you should go check out some other board that isn't sports related if you don't want to hear about the best coach in college football receiving a possibly huge NFL offer that's being reported by a semi credible news agency.

I think most people on the board would prefer a new thread when big new info comes out. makes my browsing easier.

It was reported but the NFL came out and said that was completely illegal and would not happen.

Dont know if the same rule applies to coaches

Saban is a great college coach, and may be a great NFL coach given the right circumstances.

But if you are going to offer 4% ownership, why don't you go after Payton?

Where is ESPN reporting this. It was a couple of local guys in Baton Rogue who work for an ESPN affiliate radio station. Local guys. Baton Rogue. Not ESPN in Bristol, CT. Huge difference.

So you're saying they are lying? What are you basing this on other than hope?

Are they even able to offer ownership as part of a compensation package for a coach? I didn't think that was allowed.

The Browns just sold for over $1 Billion. You really think they offered over a $40 Million signing bonus?

What is wrong with you people.

Supposedly the Browns are prepared to offer Nick 4% OWNERSHIP of the team

My thing is if the Browns were really offering this kind of money to a coach I would think they would go after an established NFL coach? Nick Saban, as great as he is in college, was less than successful in the NFL as we all know. Now not saying he can't be successful but if I'm putting together a package like this for a coach I am sure every current NFL coach would listen and that is where I would start for sure!

BUT

If they are offering it to him I can't see how he would pass it up...
