Hiassen is good stuff, though I haven't read any of his books for a while. Tourist season and skin tight are pretty great, with a number of the Skink books being very good as well. Named my last dog Skink primarily after that character.

I’ve read Bad Monkey, Lucky You, and Stormy Weather (only one with Skink)

I’ve enjoyed them all. I’m a native Floridian, so that might help.

Should I try to read the books with Skink in order?

Have heard great things about Rising Tide. I plan to order it soon.

Just started Clemente by David Maraniss.

I'd say yeah, it would probably make more sense that way. It's not totally necessary, but there are a few callbacks based on his relationship with the cop who's name I can't remember.

I think lucky you or the one he put out right after lucky you were the last ones I read by him.

I'd probably just read his books in order period, as his earliest books are the best to me.

I’m about to start How to Hide an Empire.

A little light reading while I’m home bound.

It’s a good book. I’m in Fort Bend, Texas and the library here has it on audiobook through it’s free app. FYI if you happen to live here too.

Reading this for a class

Kind of interesting so far. Basically talks about how the idea of death was different during the Civil War. The body was just a vessel, the desire to have a “good death”, etc.

Elmore Leonard

I just finished Hombre by him. I usually read sci-fi so a western was a total change. I thought his writing was unique, and quite enjoyed his storytelling.

Freaky Deaky by Elmore Leonard. Haven't read it in a long time and picked it up few days ago. Fun book and a fast read.

I just bought a bunch of Leonard’s books. Having never read him before, what do you suggest I read first?

Get shorty and moonshine war are probably the two I liked most by him that I've read, and out of sight and rum punch are very good as well.
