Vietnam book recommendations.

I am traveling to Vietnam next month and would like to read a couple of books before going, and on the plane. Anyone have some good recommendations?
We are starting in Hanoi and making the march down to Saigon over a 3 week period.

War book or otherwise?
We few is one of my favorites but read the reviews first to see if thats what you're looking for. We were soldiers is excellent as well.

Lonely Planet Vietnam
I've traveled there at least a dozen times and you are in for an experience. I like Luke Nguyen's travel/cooking shows as well. And of course, Anthony loved the country.

Good one. I'll add The Best and the Brightest by David Halberstam.
For fiction - Fields of Fire by Jim Webb. Webb fought as a marine in Vietnam and was heavily decorated (Navy Cross, Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars, 2 Purple Hearts) so he knows what he wrote about. He's also a good writer. And was the Secretary of the Navy under Reagan and a Senator from Virginia. Talented guy.

Hell In A Very Small Space: The Siege of Dien Bien Phu
And I think this is a lost and forgotten classic probably because 60 Minutes, Mike Wallace, and left media made a crusade to destroy Lt. Col. Anthony B. Herbert. Soldier
It’s so similar to Col. Hackworth’s Steel My Soldier’s Hearts you’d think they shared an outline. Regimental leadership and above sometimes comes off looking very bad.
These may not be your cup of tea for your trip but they are invaluable history of our involvement.
