The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle (murder mystery with a twist)

Anyone else read this? One my favorite reads in a long time. It’s like if an Agatha Christie novel could be mixed with the movie Groundhog Day and the tv show Quantum Leap.
It’s better to go into it without much knowledge, but if you look on Amazon or any other book preview site, it’ll give you the basic plot. So here is a brief description that’s already out there but I suggest not knowing much more:
Evelyn Hardcastle will die at 11pm. The Narrator is stuck in a time loop where he relives that same day over & over until he can identify the killer. But each day he wakes up, he is in another witnesses body (quantum leap style).
Highly recommend for anyone who wants a unique take on the locked room murder mystery genre.

Sounds interesting. I've added it to by TBR list.

sounds pretty cool, I need to give this a shot

I was intrigued by the write-up so ordered on prime, should be here tomorrow!

Hope you all enjoy it. It’s as close to a puzzle in literary form as I’ve encountered. It’s a mind bender...

It's arrived and I'm hoping to either start tonight or tomorrow.
I have "7 1/2 deaths.." but when I was on amazon I noticed there was also one that was just "7 deaths.." I couldn't really find any info on the difference aside from '7' being maybe the origianl and 7.5 being some kind of update or something? Any clarification on that?

"7 Deaths..." is the original name and how it was released in Europe but it closely resembled the name of another book already released in the USA, so the USA version was renamed "7 1/2 deaths..." to avoid legal issues. Same exact book, no updates or additions to either one.

I'm 100 pages in so far and fricking loving it, can't put it down. I kinda wish football wasn't on and my wife wasn't home so I could just read all day lol

I was the same way. If it hooked you that early, then it probably has you the rest of the way. Enjoy the ride!

I loved it! It was trippy for sure. I found I’d have to go back and re-read sections every now and then. Definite 5 star read for me.

Done! Quite a thrill ride, wonderful suggestion. I got a little overwhelmed sometimes with the hopping around but overall thoroughly enjoyed it

Thanks for the suggestion.
Just finished and loved this book.
It’s described as Agatha Christie meets Quantum Leap meets Groundhog Day. And I agree with a little bit of The Prestige in the mix.
I might reread it in a couple of months just to see how many clues are out in the open now that I’ve already read it.
Possible light spoilers below
Loved how all the clues to real murder mystery are spelled out but didn’t make sense until the very end. At several points I thought I figured out (correctly) who was responsible for the real murder mystery only to talk myself out of it because the final plot twist that answered those lingering questions had yet to be revealed.
Also loved how the title takes on a whole new meaning after the mystery is solved.

I am doing a slow reread right now with the same thing in mind. On page 115 or so and just knock out a chapter or two before bed most nights. The author doesn’t beat the reader over the head with any obvious clues, but there are definite subtle, one liners here and there that foreshadow things to come. It’s been fun picking up on those.

Can you post a SPOILER warnign and then list some of them that you've recently seen? When I read it I flew threw it so I don't think I can necessarily go back like "oh I want to see that time so and so were talking". I'd love to see some of hte examples you mention though!

Did you get to read what I posted before removing it? Left it up as a spoiler for a few hours.

Finished this book last night. What a fun book. I find myself wondering about the world outside of Blackheath Manor that would have such a place.

Turton's 2nd book came out in the last ~6 months, The Devil and the Dark Water. I liked 7 1/2 Deaths more, but The Devil was still really good.
