Let us know how you like the entire trilogy once you finish book 3.
Damnit. Now I had to go read Goodreads reviews of the rest of the books in the trilogy, and my enthusiasm for reading them has been sapped.

Not OP but just started The Blade Itself and liking it. Glotka is hilarious in his own right.

Oh, don't take my post as a negative. I was just interested in your thoughts on the full trilogy.

The second one is pretty solid IMO, it's just not nearly as good as the first (which isn't a fair comparison really, as it's one of the better fantasy books of the last 20 years to me). The third book of the trilogy is pretty meh though.
However, the follow up duology to the trilogy is really quite good, which makes finishing the trilogy worthwhile just to read those two books to me.

Also, I always considered Logan my favorite character, but I think I actually like Glokta a little better now.
I liked Logan, but always thought Glokta was the best character by far.

Gentlemen Bastards: the first book is really, really good. A lot of people didn't like the second, but I thought it was great. Third book is also good. But be prepared for the series to never be finished a la George R R Martin. The author suffers from anxiety, and severe Trump Derangement Syndrome. And its been radio silence for a while now on when the next book will be published
Lies of Locke Lamora is fantastic and can be read as a stand alone story. Lynch could have never written another book and this would still be great.
Second book was also a stand alone story, though it helps if you read the first one. I thought it was disjointed and poorly paced but not bad.
The third book is where it gets frustrating. Was very good, much better than the second. But it ends on a cliff hanger with a very huge reveal…..and we will likely never get the rest of the story.

Just finished The Will of the Many by James Islington. I'm ready for book 2 because that ending left me with so many questions.
I enjoyed it a lot, would recommend.
Think I'm going to do the Poppy War next

This is one of the few series I've started but not finished in the past decade or so. It's not terrible, it's just extremely meh. I stopped a hundred or so pages into book two.

I jumped back into Abercrombie recently. Finished Best Served Cold earlier this month. Was a pretty good time.
Started The Free Bastards by Jonathan French shortly after.

This is disappointing. In past two months I went from Stormlight Archives to Mostborn to Red Rising. Every series I was itching to keep reading
Not sure what to read nexr

Fonda Lee's Green Bone saga is great, as is Sword of Kaigen by ml wang if you want to stay on the asian themed fantasy.
Or Will Wight's Cradle series is awesome if you want something longer.

Just finished the three body trilogy. Fantastic series, although the 3rd one really gets out there with the different dimensions and mini universe stuff. I honestly would have been ok with it ending with the 2nd book and the culmination of the trisolaran conflict. The Dark Forest is probably now one of my favorite books of all time. The series Really makes you think of how small and insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things in the universe

I really hope with a completed story that the GoT D-bags can give us a worthy adaptation of the novels for Netflix.

I hope so. They do deserve credit for doing an incredible job adapting GoT source material (S1-5ish) Most people thought GoT was unadaptable to the screen
D&D can breath life into someone else's words/story but they sure AF can't write their own

Anyone read Shadow of What Was Lost? Thinking I may start that series, I like Islingtons Will of the Many book

There's a lot to like about it. Very creative and well written. But I've got some major problems with it as well.
Spoilers, I guess.
First of all, intelligent life is not going to evolve on the Trisolaran planet. It's worse than the Chicxulub meteor hitting earth every few centuries, and a completely unstable climate for any life to deal with. And the humans and trisolarans communicating so quickly; language with aliens isn't going to work like that. Like I said, well written and a lot of interesting ideas. And a lot of problems too.

Has anyone ever read the Expeditionary Force series by Craig Alanson? I just did Columbus Day, which is book 1. It started off pretty slow but got really good. I enjoyed it. I will start the second of the series soon.

Gotta make it to chapter 10
I've read the whole series. 3 more coming. Its one of, if not my favorite sci-fi series.
