Hmmm. No accounting for taste, I suppose.

I had to do a book report on it in high school... maybe I should give it another try, but I wasn't impressed then.

Catch 22 is an amazing piece of literature.

Anyone read The Ugly?
I think got the ebook based off a suggestion here, but I fell in a Sanderson hole and can't get out.
Be forewarned that it can be a bit of a challenging read at times, but it was entirely worth it. I finished my second read through a few weeks ago and I was blown away at how many things I had missed on the first read through (and the first read through had already packed one hell of an enjoyable punch, something lead character Muzduk the Ugli the 4th would appreciate!). Muzduk instantly became one of my favorite characters

Dave Barry is a funny read, I've read his book, which is a collection of articles he wrote for a newspaper, "I'm not taking this sitting down" about three times.
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy books are very funny.

Yesterday I bought "the Rosetta man" by Claire mccague because the description said "if you liked hitchhikers.."
Anyhow, it looks interesting. Aliens show up and take over the world and a guy gets picked by the aliens to be the translator to humans except he can't understand the aliens.
It was 1.99 if you have an ereader.

If you like Confederacy of Dunces, check out Lord of the Barnyard by Tristan Egolf.

I just finished A Confederacy of Dunces and I laughed out loud multiple times. Ignatius J. Reilly is an American hero.

After seeing this suggested a few times here, I read the sample on my kindle and now it's driving me nuts that I'm on the waitlist for the rest of it. (Anyone willing to lend this to me through kindle?)
Trying to figure out a way to trick my Roman Catholic mother into reading some of it already.

Totally agree. Well except for Mostly Harmless. It think the dude was in a really bad place when he wrote that one and it shows.

THIS.
Dave Barry is the only author I've found that can make me literally laugh out loud.

"another classic read last year was a Confederacy of Dunces which is a must for everyone. its glorious!"
I gave my son an original paperback of A Confederacy of Dunces last year when he relocated from New York to New Orleans.
Ive read it several times over the years and always wondered what other Gems John Kennedy Toole would have written. Tragic story!

"A green hunting cap squeezed the top of the fleshy balloon of a head. The green earflaps, full of large ears and uncut hair and the fine bristles that grew in the ears themselves, stuck out on either side like turn signals indicating two directions at once. Full, pursed lips protruded beneath the bushy black moustache and, at their corners, sank into little folds filled with disapproval and potato chip crumbs. In the shadow under the green visor of the cap Ignatius J. Reilly’s supercilious blue and yellow eyes looked down upon the other people waiting under the clock at the D.H. Holmes department store, studying the crowd of people for signs of bad taste in dress.”
What other hilarity might Toole have written? Truly sad....

"Sh*t My Dad Says" Justin Halpern is probably the funniest thing I've ever read. It's a good read

I need to read it again. Had to read it in college and absolutely hated it.
