And Alfie said that the parentage reminded him a lot of Star Wars.

The toughest part were the endless brienne chapters in book four

Glad that Nimble Dick stayed out of S4; hope he is left out of S5 as well.

So far LSH has done nothing that we can't do without. She rides around killing Freys. Sure, that makes Stark lovers feel better but it doesn't really do much for the big picture. I am fine with leaving her out.

Martin must have told D&D she isn't that valuable in the overall plot towards the end of the books so they left her out. That's the only thing I can think of
Posted on 6/29/14 at 1:27 pm to chryso
There's no way they leave her out. One of, if not THE single biggest moment of the entire series is the Red Wedding, in which Catelyn is killed. To know that she is brought back to life as this fricked up zombie that goes around getting justice for her and her families deaths by hanging members of the family that murdered her and her family and not get to see that on screen would be a terrible mistake.
Of course she is not part of the overall ending of the entire series, but neither is Daario, Grey Worm, Missandei, Red Viper, Elia, etc etc.
Not saying they absolutely won't be part of the ending cause it's possible. But to assume that every character will have a role to play in the end of the series is kinda dumb

Agree completely. Like I said, it could be a contract deal and she didn't explicitly say "there's no Stoneheart." She just said "the character is dead." Technically Cat IS dead.
And Graves only does 3ish episodes a season....and D&D haven't commented on it. I trust them over a part-time director for the series who comes off as a huge a-hole.
Plus Lena loves to get drunk and tweet and post on IG.
Basically it's been a huge PR mess and D&D and George haven't done shite to correct it. A lot of Hodors know about LSH now too so the element of surprise is gone for both them and us bookreaders.

That's why they should have done it at the end of season 4. Now book readers will assume they aren't gonna do LSH and will tell all the show watchers about it and if they do it now it's just meh
Posted on 6/29/14 at 2:47 pm to Finkle is Einhorn
Exactly. It's going to be meh if they actually have it in S5.
To me LSH is too important to the "Oathkeeper" story and to her not knowing if any of her children are still alive.

Lord Beric can sort of fill the role of unCat but there's an underlying theme of the Brotherhood's beginnings as a noble endeavor looking to serve justice and protect the smallfolk but being turned more and more to the darkside by the horrors they've seen and participated in. Thoros was obviously deeply troubled by the monster he had created, (even if secondhand). All of that is conveyed far more effectively by unCat than by Beric, IMO.

With 4 seasons down, I believe that I've sort of gotten a feel for how D&D think. Omitting Tysha and "Where do whores go?" was bit of a let down, but I really don't believe that much if anything comes from that storyline in the books. At best, he finds Tysha at the Happy Port and then...what? I'm not entirely pissed about them leaving that out, and that's coming from a " realistic book purist" who believes that they should keep it as close to the book as possible, but understands that some things have to be cut.
Stoneheart is not one of those things. To date, she has only appeared twice, really, although she is mentioned multiple times. But WOW, those two appearances are huge:
- She is revealed in the ASOS Epilogue
- She hangs Brienne and Pod, providing one of the biggest cliffhangers of the series.
So, WWDDD (What Would David and Dan Do)? They have two seasons to fill with the next two books (spare me the notion that they will mash them into one season because it's fricking impossible without completely butchering the story). They have, for all intents and purposes, 2 usable scenes with LSH up to this point in the books. They could write her out, but I firmly believe (speculation here) that she has a big role to play in at least TWOW. So, WWDDD? I think they combine the two scenes and use her hanging Brienne as the reveal for LSH and one of the WTF cliffhanger moments for next season. Now THAT would be a powerful scene.
