re: Crackpot ASOIAF Theories SPOILERS

No. I just finished a BL reread and used the chapter list as my book mark and jumped back and forth between the two books. That should be pretty easy to do on the kindle, just check each chapter off of the list as you read them.

So, now that season 4 is done and I'm done with the BL reread, what do we get in season 5? One of the reasons for the BL reread was to see whether or not the two books could realistically be done in one season. D&D will chop a lot out, but after the reread I'm even more convinced that there's simply no way they can do it. In one interview, they said that they expected to have about half of ADWD left after season 5. That didn't make sense at first, but when you do the Boiled Leather read and put the two books back together, you see that there are 28 chapters of ADWD that run beyond the events from AFFC.
Also, a lot was made about the appearance of The Night's King and Arya's dialogue when she killed Polliver, suggesting that the show was jumping ahead of the books and using material from TWOW. Meh, not really. The scene with Arya incorporated Arya's lines from "Mercy" in TWOW, but the scene was still the one from ASOS; another example of D&D combining two scenes from the books into a single scene that works better for television. As for what happens to Craster's sons, it was heavily suggested in the books by Craster's wives that they were turned into White Walkers, we just didn't get to see it. I will concede that the 13 black cloaked White Walkers and the leader with the horns on his head were new, but I really don't think that we should expect to see much, if anything, from TWOW in season 5.

Yes, I'm bored.
I have been wrapped up with work and stuff and haven't been on much, so I was having ASOIAF withdrawals. We've crackpotted the books to death, so I thought that it would be entertaining to come up with theories for how they do season 5. Here it goes (yes, it's long):
Episode 5-1
- Tyrion arrives in Pentos, meets Illyrio
- Cersei learns that Tyrion has escaped and Tywin is dead
- Areo Hotah, Prince Doran and the Sand Snakes introduced, rumblings in Dorne over Oberyn's death
- Gratuitous sex scene with Arianne and Aerys Oakheart
- Turmoil at the wall as they decide what to do with the Wildlings. Dalla dies in childbirth
- Arya arrives in Braavos. Meets the kindly man.
- Word reaches the Wall of the Boltons taking Winterfell. Stannis offers to legitimize Jon.
- Bowen Marsh is grievously wounded. Names Jon as Lord Commander.

Episode 5-2
- Balon Greyjoy dies
- Introduce the Damphair - declares kingsmoot
- Asha returns to Pyke (they probably write out Harlaw)
- Tywin's funeral (doubt they include the stench, who knows?)
- Cersei receives letter from Prince Doran to Tywin. She fears for Myrcella's safety and sends Jaime to Dorne
- Tywin had set plans for fake Arya before he died. Jaime meets her as she is leaving with her escort to Winterfell
- Brienne and Pod search for Arya near Saltpans. They think that she may still be with the Hound if he survived (they don't find his body)
- the Sons of the Harpy cause trouble for Dany
- Bran begins his tutelage with Bloodraven

Is this confirmed or speculation?

Speculation, from what I've seen. He does return and will play a role. Either he will be the Kindly Man or the Alchemist. Would make for better TV if he is the KM, though, so it would not be a shock. It would be like D&D to do that.

Jaqen being the KM in the show=

Sam should be heading to Oldtown with Gilly & Maester Aemon pretty soon, so he could be there as Pate. It would be cool to see Jaqen training her though in Braavos.

Episode 5-3
- Jon adjusts to new role as Lord Commander. Gilly becomes wet nurse for Mance's son
- Wildlings allowed to pass through the Wall. "Mance" is burned by Mel/Stannis despite Jon's protests. Jon has concerns about Mel's obsession with the power of king's blood
- The Kingsmoot. Euron and Victarian introduced
- Tyrion departs for the Rhoyne with Illyrio. Meets Duck and Haldon. We get our first look at "Young Griff"
- The Sand Snakes are locked away. Arianne plots to crown Myrcella

Well, crap! Just started this and now I'm seeing reports that they may not cast Euron and Victarian for this season. Just trying to write up possible episodes for season 5, I get it; there's a LOT going on, but how do you push Balon's death and all of the stuff with the Greyjoys for a full season?
Posted on 6/29/14 at 8:27 pm to ffishstik
Wonder if they'll introduce the Kettlebecks or leave them out too

No Euron or Victarian??? Really?!?
Posted on 6/30/14 at 10:39 am to ladytiger118
I'm seriously starting to lose interest in the show. If they are leaving Euron and Victarian out, then they are completely abandoning the books storylines in order to write their own ending. I understand they are somewhat stuck with GRRM writing so slowly, but they could try to keep it in line somewhat.

i'll watch..BUT I WON'T BE HAPPY ABOUT IT

how do you not have Victarian? Euron...MAYBE ok but not Victarian
Posted on 6/30/14 at 12:32 pm to ladytiger118
The Petyr Baelish FB account has been hinting that they are casting Euron.
Posted on 6/30/14 at 12:34 pm to ffishstik
I think you're underestimating how much D&D are willing to cut. They're going to absolutely rape the Greyjoy/Dorne storylines. Bank on that.

Remember how they detracted their statements about who they cast for Leaf and Bloodraven? Turns out the rumors were true after all. I think they do that so that the 'info' doesn't get out.
FWIW I could see the Kingsmoot being shortened, or basically they'll have Euron die, AshaYara goes back to the I.I. after hearing that news, and her Nuncle (
at that term) Euron will be sitting there with his Jack Sparrow makeup and eyepatch. Then he'll send Victarian to Dany.
