I think there has to be more to the Doom of Valyria than a bunch of volcanoes going off at once. Something set them off.

Magic was definitely involved as I am sure they were trying to breed a super dragon or something. If it were just volcanoes, the ruins would have been cleaned out of treasure and valyrian weapons that survived the Doom.

Don't forget Arya's conversation with the kindly man when he told her of the beginnings of the order. Arya is shocked that the first faceless man killed the slave when he should have killed the masters.

I at one time tried to connect Tyrion's Uncle with Patchface, but was not successful.
Patchface was brought back from ? by Robert Baratheon's parents and was the only one to survive the shipwreck...he was already tatooed w motley but was amazing before he "drowned"
The only connection I had was the Uncle lost at sea looking for the Lannister family sword...never said he WASN't a dwarf/ at least small in stature...Goose, chase, I know.

I wasnt considering Drogo since he's dead but if he was still around, he would be in consideration as well. If you start considering peopel no longer alive, that makes the list much harder.
