I have no idea why, but Victarion is one of my favorites. I look forward to all his chapters and seriously hope he isn't falling into another of Euron's traps with the Dragon Horn. I realize Euron probably has set the trap, but I hope Maqorro keeps him from getting caught.

I like him (and his chapters in ADwD) too.

When a guy says things like this:

"The most beautiful woman in the world has urgent need of my axe." - Victarion, on finding out Daenerys is encircled by her enemies in Meereen

He's a badass.

And If you had any doubt even Google tells me Victarion is a badass:

This may be out of place, but I just read The Hedge Knight yesterday and am 20 pages into The Sworn Sword. I like this Dunk dude. That means he will probably die a horrible death. Just wanted to say this.

I could be mistaken, but I think he was with Aegon at Summerhall. So, yeah, his death is probably awful.

BTW, I like that this thread is always on the first page when I get into work.

We know Dunk's fate from the main books he was with aegon at summer hall and not out of place at all.

Everyone is starting to slack in here. Random topic to get this back on the first page... Does anyone see a main POV character finding their way to Valyria? My guess is Tyrion, though I am expecting Dany to be with him at this point. With his knowledge of history, as well as dragons, along with his current location, I think he is the most likely.

I think those two are more likely to go through Asshai than Valyria.

I'm with you on that line of thinking. I guess I just want someone to go to Valyria and I really can't see anyone else going but them. Wishful thinking definitely.

I hope so, they are very close too it and have brought it up several times. I can see Dany going for sure and maybe Tyrion because it would interest him and find out what happen to his uncle.

For purely selfish reasons, I want somebody to go there just to see it, and what the Doom was.

I keep looking for some passage in the book that might hint towards someone going, but I can't find anything that really gets my hopes up. I am very interested in the Doom and what is left in what was once the greatest empire of the series. I wouldn't mind Martin allowing someone to write about the Valyrian Freehold and some of it's history.

14 Volcanos exploding at once causing lava, earthquakes, and tsunamis. That's what I gleaned from a few hints.

I think it is more than volcanos. There are several different references to Valyria and how people are too scared to go there.

Yep me too, and lots of loot buried. People go there to find treasure and never return. I think it's thought of as haunted.

I feel like if anyone went there it would be cause ole Samwell turned them on to it, and then he'd have to go to

I think there's more to Valyria then just volcanos exploding. There's been too much talk of the magic of Valyria for there not to be IMO.

In the sack of Winterfell, Ser Rodrik led 600 Stark men and guards from the garrison, and 1400 other troops...we learn that this force was dispersed not annihilated, so where did all of these soldiers go in the meantime? Manderly kept them?

2 things I am most interested in are Asshai/Shadowlands and the Doom of Valyria. I'd love some more insight

Maybe Tyrion's uncle Gerion shows up from his trip to Valyria and sheds some light on it for us?

Thanks to having no power for a day and a half from the storm, I got a lot of re-reading done on ASOS last week. Finished it Monday night. My bf commented that he's never seen me read so much before....I told him that's because he didn't know me the first time I read these books.
