He had much more of ADWD written when he decided to split AFFC and ADWD into two, and it took him 6 years. I just hope he has gotten through his issues and knows how he's going to get Dany the hell out of Mereen, and does it quickly. Cause otherwise this is going to be a 8 book series, and I have my doubts on us seeing the end of it unless he gets his butt in gear.

I'm hoping they announce a publish date during or shortly after the upcoming season... which means we'll see the next book around Christmas.
Although that is highly unlikely i think its a good sign we haven't heard much from the Martin camp in awhile.
As far as the Vale being impregnable... I can see it falling to Dany's dragons and her army making a stand against the white walker's there. Plus you have Tyrion's relationship with the mountain men they can eventually use to add to their forces.

With the return of Tyrion to Westros, what are the odds of Bronn returning to Tyrion's side. After all, Bronn never betrayed him truly like Shae did, Bron was what he was.

Not sure what would happen between him and Bronn. Could go either way. The show made them too much of bros; in the books Tyrion knew what he was getting with Bronn.
