Where is Benjen and Syrio
Like now? or in Season 1?
Benjen is in the first episode and Syrio is in the second to last.

No. Where they are now. Are they dead or face changing white walkers?

No clue where Benjen is. I don't think he's dead. I think he's doing some serious underground crazy shite fighting the white walkers.
Syrio is probably dead, but he was such a cool character that I hope he is not. I want to believe that he was a faceless man, sent to actually start training Arya in the art of becoming a faceless man.

It is believed Benjen is somewhere in the land of always winter. Syrio is dead.

I hope not.
Other than Jon Snow and possibly the hound (just for the sake of Cleganebowl), I want the dead characters to stay dead. One of things that makes this story special is the amount of death (yeah, that's a weird thing to type). It cheapens it if so many people come back.

I always thought Benjen was Cold Hands?

I did too but I think GRrM came out and said its not him.
Could be wrong though

Not exactly. His editor put a note on one of the rough drafts asking if it was and he responded "no". After the manuscript got out somebody noticed the note and put it on the web.

GRRM is updating his blog right now. We may get some kind of update.

Thought I read he had typed a shite load of stuff about the past year for his blog and then somehow deleted it accidentally?
ETA: Looks like he has been trying to recreate a lot of the stuff that was lost. Seems to be talking about everything other than ASOI&F: GRRM Not-a-blog

Wow...he more than likely just wrote more in one day of blogging than the last year on WOW, and his posts were to fill us in on ALL of the stuff he's done other than finish up WOW. I think there's a reason he physically resembles a mythical creature known for hiding out in caves.

He also mentions he talks about WoW in the deleted post...and then proceeds to not talk about in the 5 subsequent posts.
Good troll fat man.

It was fantastic. I have to laugh my arse off at how brilliant it was.
However, for some reason it also gives me hope that tomorrow, he just casually throws down a "it's finished."

He did comment on someones comment to his last post that he wasn't done updating tonight. Atlhough it's past 11 in NM so I'm not hopeful. Reddit is freaking out but I think I'm going to bed if nothing is there in 20 mins or so

I refuse to put any hope in him cranking out WoW anytime soon. If he shocks me, then great, and if he doesn't get it finished I'm not setting myself up for a let down.

From the blog:
He was apparently given a Halloween deadline to have the book out by beginning of Season 6, but:
They then told him if they absolutely had to, then he could get it to them by the end of the year and get it out, but:
In short, I have every intention of allowing the show to wrap things up as he's not going to finish dick at this rate. And I'm 99% sure he has written himself into a corner anyway.

I am months away still... and that's if the writing goes well. (Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn't.) Chapters still to write, of course... but also rewriting. I always do a lot of rewriting, sometimes just polishing, sometimes pretty major restructures.
He was apparently given a Halloween deadline to have the book out by beginning of Season 6, but:
quote:
And as spring turned to summer, I was having more bad days than good ones. Around about August, I had to face facts: I was not going to be done by Halloween. I cannot tell you how deeply that realization depressed me.
They then told him if they absolutely had to, then he could get it to them by the end of the year and get it out, but:
quote:
I was immensely relieved. I had two whole extra months! I could make that, certainly. August was an insane month, too much travel, too many other obligations... but I'd have September, October, and now November and December as well. Once again I was confident I could do it. Here it is, the first of January. The book is not done, not delivered. No words can change that. I tried, I promise you. I failed. I blew the Halloween deadline, and I've now blown the end of the year deadline. And that almost certainly means that no, THE WINDS OF WINTER will not be published before the sixth season of GAME OF THRONES premieres in April (mid April, we are now told, not early April, but those two weeks will not save me).
In short, I have every intention of allowing the show to wrap things up as he's not going to finish dick at this rate. And I'm 99% sure he has written himself into a corner anyway.

I really started to despise him when I got my copy of Feast and a year passed. And another. And another.
He just does not give two fricks.

I am with you on all of that. Hopefully David and Dan can come up with a satisfying ending.
