Cam Newton Explains Why He Didn't Jump On The Fumbled Ball
Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports
Panthers QB Cam Newton has been getting a lot of criticism about not falling on his fumbled pass attempt late in the game on Sunday. A lot of people have said maybe it was because hr didn't want to get hurt. Those people were right. Newton said Tuesday via the Charlotte Observer...
quote:

“OK. I didn’t get the fumble, but we can play tit for tat,” “I’ve seen numerous quarterbacks throw interceptions and their efforts afterward … they don’t go. I don’t dive on one fumble because the way my leg was, it could have been (contorted) in a way.”
You gotta dive on that ball, son.

I know it will never take place but Newton isn't the person I would want sharing a foxhole with me.

It was a Business Decision...why risk injury in a game that was lost ??

Well, the real reason he didn't jump on it was the Broncos took a page out of the Patriots playbook...there was Kryptonite injected into all of the balls, and Cam finally realized it late in the game...nothing worse for Superman than Kryptonite...

Drew Brees jumped on a loose ball in the last game of his last season as a Charger in 2005, with the Chargers out of playoff contention, without a contract lined up and with Phillip Rivers waiting to take his job. Safe to say, Drew Brees would have tried to recover that fumble in the Super Bowl.

Cam Newton didnt jump on a ball in the biggest game of his career when his team was still in the game with a shite at a SuperBowl Title.

Drew Brees jumped on a ball in the 4th quarter of the last game of the season when his team was out of playoff contention.

It's all about having a want to win.

Wow. He actually admitted he was scared to jump on the ball. I thought he was going to use the excuse that he thought it was an incomplete pass or something. Wow.

Yeah your legs were contorted alright, to jump backwards away from #94 of the Broncos who got to the ball before you did so instead of diving for the ball like you were about too, you "contorted" your legs to jump away from him so not to get hit...all you have to do is watch the video replay of the play...

He didn't dive for it because he is a self-obsessed little bitch who cares more about Cam than about Carolina.

Great idea, Cam! Just allow your teammates to risk their legs being "contorted" instead. That's a leader I'd follow!

I didn't know Superman was afraid of being injured on a football field.

You are in the SB it is what you play for! You throw it all on the line to win. What is he saving his body for? Spring training?
