UPDATE...
The Saints have released this statement...
quote:

While there is current litigation relative to the New Orleans Archdiocese and clergy sex abuse, our comments are limited only to the scope of our involvement. The New Orleans Saints organization has always had a very strong relationship with the Archdiocese. The Archdiocese reached out to a number of community and civic minded leaders seeking counsel on handling the pending media attention that would come with the release of the clergy names in November of 2018. Greg Bensel, Senior Vice President of Communications for the New Orleans Saints, was contacted and offered input on how to work with the media. The advice was simple and never wavering. Be direct, open and fully transparent, while making sure that all law enforcement agencies were alerted. The New Orleans Saints, Greg Bensel and Mrs. Gayle Benson were and remain offended, disappointed and repulsed by the actions of certain past clergy. We remain steadfast in support of the victims who have suffered and pray for their continued healing.

Further, the Saints have no interest in concealing information from the press or public. At the current discovery stage in the case of Doe v. Archdiocese, the Saints, through their counsel, have merely requested the court to apply the normal rules of civil discovery to the documents that the Saints produced and delivered to Mr. Doe's counsel. Until the documents are admitted into evidence at a public trial or hearing in the context of relevant testimony by persons having knowledge of the documents and the events to which they pertain, the use of the documents should be limited to the parties to the case and their attorneys. If admitted into evidence of the case, the documents and the testimony pertaining to them will become part of the public record of the trial of the case.

New Orleans Saints execs allegedly helped "conceal" sexual abuse in the Catholic church and now they're going to court to "protect" hundreds of e-mails from the public. Per AP...
quote:

“Attorneys for about two dozen men suing the church say in court filings that the 276 documents they obtained through discovery show that the NFL team, whose owner is devoutly Catholic, aided the Archdiocese of New Orleans in its ‘pattern and practice of concealing its crimes.’

“’Obviously, the Saints should not be in the business of assisting the Archdiocese, and the Saints’ public relations team is not in the business of managing the public relations of criminals engaged in pedophilia,” the attorneys wrote in a court filing. ‘The Saints realize that if the documents at issue are made public, this professional sports organization also will be smearing itself.’

[…]

“Attorneys for the men suing the church say ‘multiple’ Saints personnel, including Senior Vice President of Communications Greg Bensel, used their team email to advise church officials on ‘messaging’ and how to soften the impact of the archdiocese’s release of a list of clergy members ‘credibly accused’ of sexual abuse.

“’The information at issue bears a relationship to these crimes because it is a continuation of the Archdiocese’s pattern and practice of concealing its crimes so that the public does not discover its criminal behavior,’ the plaintiffs’ attorneys wrote. ‘And the Saints joined in.’”

Reporters think as long as they use the word "allegedly" they can put whatever ridiculous, inflammatory accusation after it that they want. This sounds like a lot of jumping to conclusions before we really know anything.

not even close. Paterno didn't give PR advice to Sandusky. He either actively covered up, or certainly didn't follow up or wasn't fully transparent in making it known to police and his bosses that Sandusky was up to some bad stuff. Paterno knew it - and did virtually nothing about it. All to protect his football program, rather than those poor kids. Sickening.

How the F can they call themselves Catholic? Actually, seems pretty par for the course. Better question is: how can we call ourselves Catholic?

Priestly celibacy became a thing in Roman Catholicism within 100 years in accordance with the following timeline following it falling into schism with the rest of Christendom in 1054: 1074-Pope Gregory VII said anyone to be ordained must first pledge celibacy: priests [must] first escape from the clutches of their wives. 1095-Pope Urban II had priests wives sold into slavery, children were abandoned. 1123-Pope Calistus II: First Lateran Council decreed that clerical marriages were invalid. 1139-Pope Innocent II: Second Lateran Council confirmed the previous councils decree. The motivation was material, forcing the line of inheritance of clergy from family to the coffers in Rome. It also opened the door for the creeping homosexualization of the Roman priesthood, the final fruit of which we see today in the gay child abuse scandal. In contrast, Orthodox priests have always been able to marry.

"advise church officials on ‘messaging’... archdiocese’s release of a list of clergy members ‘credibly accused’ of sexual abuse." Umm... this does not equal concealing since the Archdiocese released the list publicly. Maybe not a great move by the Saints in any case.

Why are so many Catholic priests gay? I mean we obviously don't have an exact number so it could still be minuscule percentage wise, but got damn you barely hear this at all for any other religion or denomination. Is this like a prison thing, always surrounded by males and you just have sexual urges. Nasty I know but trying to understand why this sexual abuse is tied to catholic priests. Looks like they need to study the sound discipline of monks.

because it’s an ideal place for gay men to hide and not have to explain to their family and friends why they aren’t married. Its a perfect cover for gay men. Then they abuse the power they have over kids and the church covers it up. The entire system is broken and rotten to the core.

The incidence of abuse in Protestant religions has been shown to be higher (still well below the “norm” in both cases) there was an investigator that looked at insurance payouts for Protestant churches and found the rate higher. You don’t hear as much about it because there are 33,000+ Protestant churches so no one big target like the Catholic Church.

Lawyers are FOS. "PR advice on what to day when releasing the list" != concealing abuse.

You could have seen this coming a mile away! Who do think introduced Tom Benson to Gail...it was the archbishop Gregory Aymond. That’s when Benson started pumping money into tne Archdiocese. Just wait. This is probably only the tip of the iceberg.

Seems like a money grab for the plaintiffs. Any guilty action (if true) if that of the church, BUT there is more money at stake if you can somehow incriminate a billion dollar entity
