© Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports
Well, it was going to be Clemson or Ohio State that would go on play LSU in the National title game. As we know Clemson went on to lose to the Tigers as the Buckeyes sat home. Here's what OSU head coach Ryan Day told his team about the championship game...

Wonder what a LSU vs. Ohio State Natty game would've looked like.

I would be happy for LSU to play a 16th game against them. Bring it.

Be careful, at least your QB is no longer eligible...

He should be thrilled to be in such a position. Easy to obtain the chip and the hunger of not quite being good enough without having to be bludgeoned on national television by LSU, may even be able to convince his team and the talking heads that the game would have gone any differently had OSU made it to the final.

You're too optimistic. LSU 52 Ohio State 17.

If he keeps running his mouth Joe and the boys will show up in the parking lot to prove him wrong. Better to lay low, Ryan Day.

There is absolutely zero reason to believe that OSU would've given LSU a better game. Sure, they might beat Clemson 2 times out of 3, but the fact that the OSU/Clemson game was a 60-minute dogfight while LSU simply ran away from Clemson in the 2nd half should be all the evidence you need to form a conclusion. OSU had their shot. "Wah, our starting RB got injured." Deal with it...that's why depth is so important in football.

Just to get the stats right, we outscored Clemson by 11 in the first half and by 6 in the second half. Both teams scored less in the second half.

I mean, technically you are correct. But Clemson closed the gap to 3 early in the 3rd, and then LSU ended up winning by 17. I'd definitely consider that "running away."

after the 1st QTR, LSU outscored Clemson 35-8 ...and took a knee on the Clemson 5 yard line with a minute left. LSU racked up 628 yards of offense... that's impressive

They don’t even have lights at the tOSU stadium because all their games are Day games.

Day is going to have to prove he can coach ...because he flat out inherited a perfect program with stock piles of NFL talent that Urban built. Can Day keep it going like a Les Miles did for 11 years? We shall see...

Let’s be honest. Urban didn’t build shite. It has always been there.

Ehh, Miles kept it going for about 7 or 8 years. Urban recruited at a high level. The Buckeyes were coming off a losing season when he took over. Day is a good recruiter and tOSU is the dominant program in the B1G. There are no real challengers to them.

Osu & Clemson both play 1 good team a year. They will always only have to beat 2-3 good teams to win the natty.

I'm a bama fan and let's just call it what it is, LSU was the best team in the Country this year. They weren't losing to anyone but if it makes them feel better, meh.

No one was beating LSU this year. We would have just gotten a lot more Burrow stories out of the matchup pregame.

Apparently the thought of LSU playing Ohio State made me illiterate.

It would have been interesting because Ohio State I think is the more talented team and matched up better than Clemson did. Ohio State doesn't have the same crazy defensive scheme that Clemson had and their defense wasn't leaps and bounds more talented than Clemson's. I would have seen that game as like a 35-21 LSU win.

Joe would have eviscerated the Buckeyes. May should be glad Clemson did them a favor.
