Deion Sanders Reveals Why He'd 'Never' Coach In The NFL

It doesn't look like new Colorado coach Deion Sanders will be coaching in the NFL any time soon. Why? Per NBC Sports...

“I don’t have any desire or ambition to coach in the NFL,” Sanders told SI.com. “I have a problem with men getting their checks and not doing their jobs. I would be too tough as a coach in the NFL because I still have those old-school attributes.”

Although Sanders did serve as an assistant coach for the high school team his sons played on, he also said he’ll never be an assistant coach.

“I’m not an assistant coach. That is not me,” Sanders said. “I am a head coach.”

NFL doesn't do sham head coaches well.

I'll never coach in the NFL, either. Probably for the same reason-- nobody wants me to.

I've only seen a couple successful college coaches turn into a successful pro coaches. Bill Walsh did it with Stanford and SF but the biggest was Jimmy Johnson. Even the great Bud Wilkinson and Lou Holtz struggled in the NFL.

I fully expect, after learning about his legs and feet, that after this season flops he will quit coaching.

Traditionally he is right, but with NIL this is going to change with time. Sad, as many people don't pay attention to pro sports because of his point, but unfortunately our only option will deteriorate with time.

Because kids have to listen or you can send them packing. That isn't happening in the NFL plus his narcissism would not blend well with NFL players.

He makes sense. This is why it's usually unsuccessful for college coaches to become good pro coaches.

There are some, but surprising few who make the jump the NFL and become winners.
