The agent of Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby, Ron Slavin, is making his feelings clear about the media’s overarching reaction to his gambling saga...
quote:

“Everybody loves to have an opinion. I’m so tired of watching people get on TV and blab their mouth when they have no idea what they’re talking about,” Slavin said on Shan & RJ. “Unfortunately, it’s not just in Brendan’s situation; it’s in most situations.

“Unless you’re Brendan or Brendan’s family or myself and my team, nobody really knows what happened. The opinions out there were, you would have thought this kid committed major crimes and did the horrible things. The reality is, as an 18 year old, he made some bad decisions from his dorm room when he wasn’t traveling with the team in Indiana.”

“The predatory world of gambling, where you turn 18 and deposit $5 you get a free $100. Every single show on TV, every single radio show, everything is sponsored by a gambling site. So, it’s a scary world we’re living in. These kids have all been raised now with phones in their hands. So, it’s real easy to get on an app and place a bet.”

Wahhhh. Give the man some tissue to dry his eyes. Sorsby fell into a trap but it was his mistake and there were consequences. In this case, it's gambling which is a cardinal sin in sports. The agent is ticked because he lost his agent's fee.

They keep acting like the outrage was because of the gambling. Forget the fact that he tried to kill the ability for NCAA to enforce any rules with his stunt to use the legal system to get away with breaking a rule that he agreed to follow day 1. One of the most objective and straightforward rules in sports.

"The reality is, as an 18 year old, he made some bad decisions from his dorm room". Really? And you think he shouldn't be penalized because of those bad decisions? We have prisons with guys in for life because of "bad decisions" when they were 18.

He can repeat 18 year old as much as he wants but he was still betting in 2025 when he was 21.

How the hell does he even know what happened ? The only side he’s heard is the degenerate gamblers.

No accountability. Weak mindset. Develop accountability and own your mistakes. Blaming media and others is part of the problem.

If he is talking about the gambling....well Sorsby told everybody about it after somebody in Cincy spilled the beans. If he is talking about Tech's reaction to it, sure we don't know all the backdoor talks and how Tech discussed they would handle it. Tech is the one that got screwed here. Sorsby brought this upon Tech and Tech was in a hardspot of trying to decide if they would ride it out and support him or if they needed to cut bait. The stupid Texas Judge even complicated it further. I think Tech was cutting bait but then this judge put Tech in a worse spot.

Predatory? Everyone knows what gambling is. And if you don’t like the speculation and falsehoods, step up and tell the truth.

That is the most reasonable take on the situation I have seen. They should have just said that from the start. Instead of claiming the kid has a "gambling addiction". That stigma will now follow him forever.

He did not have a gambling addiction! He could have quit any time he wanted to; he just never wanted to!
