Pigpen’s words, as controversial as they look, are taken out of the context in which he said them. He was talking about before he got there, Jordan’s style did not translate into success. The numbers support this assertion, as the Bulls in Jordan’s first three seasons, one of which was Jordan’s foot season, had losing records each year. After Pippen was drafted and the team became a team, that was when Jordan came into his own. But his first three years, he was a ball hog who played terrible isolation basketball. The losing records show how horrible this style of play is.
