SEC Files Amendment Seeking Authority To Expel LSU From Conference

The SEC has taken another major step in its ongoing legal battle with LSU.

According to ESPN, the conference filed an amendment to its federal lawsuit against LSU, Lane Kiffin and school officials on Tuesday, seeking the authority to potentially expel LSU from the SEC.

The SEC's presidents and chancellors are scheduled to meet Thursday to discuss whether to terminate LSU's membership. A two-thirds vote of the conference presidents would be required to remove LSU.

The SEC is not expected to actually expel LSU, according to ESPN, but the filing seeks to establish the conference's legal authority to enforce its rules against member schools.

The amended complaint also cited Kiffin's comments during LSU's win over Clemson, including his halftime remark, "Imagine if we had pro players."

The SEC claims Kiffin's comments show a "lack of institutional control" at LSU and is seeking a temporary restraining order preventing LSU from interfering with Thursday's meeting.

The federal lawsuit stems from LSU's pursuit of former NFL players Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, who were granted a preliminary injunction last week allowing them to return to college football.

How bout not enforcing these rules against bama? How bout not going after ole Miss when they’ve been caught tampering? Sounds like a lack of control in the sec office if you ask me

Didn't Ole Miss Pretty much do the same for Chambliss. He got a Mississippi Judge to rule in favor of him..... Do not see the SEC going after Ole Miss for that one.

Using Kiffin’s FU “imagine” shot is pretty weak, petty, and can’t hold any legal weight. They hate the show, hate the success, hate the dude. Starting to think maybe LSU would be better as an independent….

A comment does not equal lack of control. The fact he didn’t play them shows just that. The lawsuit LSU should be building not just against the SEC but Sankey directly for his slander against the school. Expect horrible calls during games moving forward.

All Alums and students should have a class action lawsuit against Sankey and the SEC for Brand tarnishment.

Good. Let’s get an independent or other conf that might officiate games fairly. They screw job in the sec tilted at lsu has always been real . College football is hanging by a thread anyway since nil chaos. Ten years ago this would have legitimately made me sad. Now I would actually embrace it.

“The SEC is not expected to actually expel LSU, according to ESPN, but the filing seeks to establish the conference's legal authority to enforce its rules against member schools.”

So they’re seeking an advisory opinion?

frick sankey and frick the sec cooked arse.

Can’t kick us out until after the seasons over and do the damn thing. We deserve a conference or be apart of a new system that will make timely decisions in accordance with recruiting windows, semester enrollments playoff/postseason play and new legislation and with full transparency.

frick the crooked arse sec.

Until rules are enforced equally across the board, and the rules are black and white they can get fricked

So the SEC wants an advisory opinion from a federal court? Good luck convincing to court to give that.
