SEC Files Amendment Seeking Authority To Expel LSU From Conference

The SEC has taken another major step in its ongoing legal battle with LSU.

According to ESPN, the conference filed an amendment to its federal lawsuit against LSU, Lane Kiffin and school officials on Tuesday, seeking the authority to potentially expel LSU from the SEC.

The SEC's presidents and chancellors are scheduled to meet Thursday to discuss whether to terminate LSU's membership. A two-thirds vote of the conference presidents would be required to remove LSU.

The SEC is not expected to actually expel LSU, according to ESPN, but the filing seeks to establish the conference's legal authority to enforce its rules against member schools.

The amended complaint also cited Kiffin's comments during LSU's win over Clemson, including his halftime remark, "Imagine if we had pro players."

The SEC claims Kiffin's comments show a "lack of institutional control" at LSU and is seeking a temporary restraining order preventing LSU from interfering with Thursday's meeting.

The federal lawsuit stems from LSU's pursuit of former NFL players Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, who were granted a preliminary injunction last week allowing them to return to college football.

LK didn't even say it on the record. The interview with Holly was over, it was just some goofing around. SEC is looking like drama queens in all of this and reaching for shite to throw at a wall.

Hmmm... Seeking a temp restraining order to keep LSU from having anything to say about how things are done in the conference in which it is a member. (That sounds a wee bit duplicitous and underhanded there, Sankey.)

So the SEC wants an advisory opinion from a federal court? Good luck convincing to court to give that.

I seriously hope LSU puts the knife in the SEC whenever they get the chance. The next time an SEC school has an athlete commit a crime, LSU should call for them to be removed. The next time the conferences realign, LSU should jump ship to the Big10 if they get a chance.

This guy needs to be fired with the quickness in order to preserve what little integrity is still left in the SEC leadership.

Until rules are enforced equally across the board, and the rules are black and white they can get fricked

The fact that they are bringing up a joke as a reason to kick a founding member school out of the SEC is unreal. the fact is that every school os going to go after these players if it is established it is legal to do so. i dont even understand why its such a big deal? its players that are getting cut off of practice squads. a lot of which would not have entered the draft had they known it would now be 5 for 5.

LSU fans should be running an anti SEC campaign. This teams going to get a lot of publicity this season. SEC would get a lotta bad press out of LSU all over tv and social media openly mocking them.
