John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports
The BigLead.com, which is part of the USA Today Sports network, had a very big and bold projection about the LSU-Alabama game in November: Both teams will be undefeated heading into the matchup.
quote:

LSU-Alabama will be a matchup of unbeatens:

OK, so one part of this isn’t bold. Predicting Alabama to lose would be. But I’m not that brave. LSU enters the season with a stifling defense and offensive question marks. In order to get to November blemish-free, the Tigers must beat Miami, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi State. Brace yourselves. It will happen and the teams will enter No. 1 and No. 2.
In order for that to happen LSU has to the run the table and win these eight straight games:

9/2 Miami (FL)
9/8 Southeastern LA
9/15 at Auburn
9/22 Louisiana Tech
9/29 Ole Miss
10/6 at Florida
10/13 Georgia
10/20 Mississippi St.

Could it happen?

Beat Miami, Auburn, and Georgia? I could see LSU beating one of those three.

LSU homer? Does anyone else think this at all?

LSU could realistically be 3-5 through the first 8 games. This schedule is brutal.

LSU is going to be 7-5 at best. Welcome to the new normal, Louisiana. You dug your own grave.

Welcome to the new normal, Louisiana. You dug your own grave. You are indeed a brilliant individual; a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Would you you be so cocksure with a little cash where your mouth is? Let me know -or shut up.

You are right Rider, We did dig our own grave. When Skip hired Miles was the 1st shovel of dirt. Everything has been on a slow downward slope.

Looking at LSU's recruiting classes for 17, 16, 15 and 14 - 7th, 2nd, 5th, and 2nd. Loaded. The QB is the missing link. Burrow has help all over the field - he just needs to get the ball to the play makers, quickly and accurately (Joe LOVES that assignment) Undefeated before (and after) Bama? Possible. SEC Champs? Likely, IMHO. (I already bet all my lunch money on it)

I don’t see this happening, but it would make for a grand night in tiger stadium. I think LSU would be ranked #1 in this scenario. Of course, the last time this matchup pitted 2 top 5 teams against one another was the infamous 1.7 ypc game in which Alabama beat the brakes off LSU

This comment section reminds me why small children in faraway lands sing folk tunes about LSU melts. The most magically hideous spectacle in all of sport

They do? I’ve never heard that.

If we can get there with only one loss (Auburn), that game would have the meaning it had a few years ago. Of course, beating the Gumps would make it that much sweeter.

This has zero chance of happening. Iron bowl has a better shot.

it could happen...if you listen to the majority of sports analysts they would have you believe our conference opponents have improved all the while LSU has stayed just par for the course...well I call BS! Defense is solid with some depth. we have all the reason to believe Burrow will succeed with the weapons @ WR and TE(moreau will get some looks). and you cant tell me LSU recruiters havent gotten us a decent brusier of a back regardless if hes unproven. just check the history books if you need validation. also we could have recruited RB in off-season if CEO and co. were concerned there, coach O knows this is a huge year for him. but we didnt...seems to me they are comfortable @ RB.

There have been a number of seasons in the last decade where we were a good QB away from a championship year. 2010 comes immediately to mind.
