Head coach Brian Kelly spoke with the media after LSU's first day of fall practice on Thursday and revealed that John Emery Jr. was not able to participate as he was finishing up his internship but would practice with the team on Friday.

Kelly added that Emery Jr. is in great shape and has done everything he's been asked to do.

Good for JEJ. He easily could have bolted a long time ago but yet he stuck around and busted his butt. Now all that hard work is going to be paying off by getting on the field. Congrats young man

This guy will play pro ball. He was immature and has probably grown up. He flashes a lot of potential and will get a look. I hope he gives us a weapon this year

In Ed O and Les Miles’s cultures at LSU he woulda quit the team or get kicked off and be a nobody in life. That goes for a lot of other players that came thru LSU but Brian Kelly will get you somewhere football or not.

I’ve always felt like things would work out for him. I really hope he puts it all together this year. He has the potential to be great.

I don’t get the responses here. This sounds like someone who is fulfilling obligations and learning to be responsible. Obviously he worked with the coaches and they’re supportive.

These people made it to class and still practiced as third string OT at Ponchie. Show some respect!

Mdomingue - think its less about small penis envy and more about real life experience with the 'definition of insanity' metaphor. Hey, here's to 'not giving up' - Geaux Tigers!

Good for Emery. Getting some life skills outside of football for when his career is over.

Glad to see Kelly helping this young man get his life together. Saban would have processed him and moved on to the next RB.
