This sounds like one of those good problems

It doesn’t matter who eventually is named starter, the other, probably Queen will play a significant amount because of his versatility. I think he can play all of the linebacker spots

I would like to see Phillips and Divinity on the inside and Queen and Chaisson on the outside.. That is a a$$ load of speed on the outside

Divinity is known as a great communicator and a good leader, similar to the way Devin White was as well the last couple of seasons. Damone Clark has also been praised by the coaching staff for his natural leadership and vocal skills. So, I'm guessing Aranda wants a vocal leader at that spot on the defense. Patrick Queen is a very good linebacker and extremely fast and quick, but at the same time, he doesn't have the same vocal and leadership skills Aranda needs as the position. As Aranda said that once they moved Divinity to that spot, the difference was night and day.

Why isn’t Divinity on the outside?

It sounds like all three players are competing for the Mike spot. Whoever loses the competition will be on the outside.

Aranda says Queen will play all over the field for 2019. So on a lot of third downs, they will substitute him at the stack linebacker spot with his backup and move him to the outside to rush the QB. It's mostly his leadership and communication skills that are the reasons for his change of position. That and they want him on the field all of the time. As when LSU is in the nickel defense, which is most of the time, the field linebacker is on the bench. He is too good of a player to have on the sidelines that much of the time.
