Although the 2017 season has not completely come to an end, Sporting News is getting a headstart by releasing their preseason Top 25 rankings for 2018.

The website ranked LSU in the middle of the pack at No. 13. Here's what they had to say about the Tigers:

13. LSU Tigers
Ed Orgeron kept the Tigers moving in the right direction in 2017, and the quarterback competition between Myles Brennan and Lowell Narcisse will be the focus of the offseason. The Tigers play Miami at Jerry World in the opener and have crossover games against Florida and Georgia in consecutive weeks. We'll know enough about this team before Alabama comes to Baton Rouge on Nov. 3.

It seems like we have been preseason ranked between 11-13 for the last 5 years.

I think we have. Just got to get over that hump. No shortage of top teams on the schedule. Win and move up quickly!

A way too early preseason poll by one publication has you convinced?

It means other people can look at it objectively without assuming the worst after every little thing. Of course it doesn’t mean we will be ranked there at the end of the season

I like that starting spot

Same place we started in 2003 after a disappointing finish in 2002. “Hope and pray.”

Because some people can think objectively instead of emotionally, maybe?

objectively? we just had the easiest schedule in over 2 decades and lost 4 games. we have nothing but inexperience on offense learning another system. people like gone fishing are the reason our clown ad thought it was ok to make the most unqualified hires in big 6 history. vandy wouldnt have ed orgeron as a dc candidate

People like Rickdaddy are why people laugh at our fan base. The fact is that I did not support the O hire and him being hired has nothing to do with me or people like me. The fact is we should have beaten Bama and should have beaten Notre Dame. People like you like to go around saying just how far away from being relevant we are. Other people don’t assume the worst constantly. The fact is that every time LSU shows up to play, the opposing team and fans fear that they will lose, regardless of what people like you say.

"Never too early for a preseason poll... or is it?" -- only if you're in the playoffs is it too soon :-)

How will you know if they are overrated right now? You don’t even know what offense we will be running or who will step up on offense or defense.

Only their fans hate LSU.
