SEC Football Lead Writer Barrett Sallee with the Bleacher Report released his preseason SEC predictions for the 2016 and says that LSU will finish 5th in the SEC behind Alabama, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Texas A&M.
quote:

SEC West

1. Alabama
2. Ole Miss
3. Auburn
4. Texas A&M
5. LSU
6. Mississippi State
7. Arkansas

"Then there's LSU. The Tigers are essentially a mirror image of what they were last year. The defense should stay elite thanks to returning stars and the arrival of new coordinator Dave Aranda, and the running game is in good hands with Leonard Fournette and Derrius Guice. But head coach Les Miles has employed an ultra-conservative offense for nearly a decade and hasn't shown the creativity and flexibility needed to win games 45-42 consistently when Plan A doesn't work. I can't count on that changing this offseason, which is why I have the Tigers tied for third in the SEC West with Auburn and Texas A&M but losing the head-to-head tiebreaker with each to finish fifth."
LSU finished 4th in the SEC West last season with a 9-3 (SEC 5-3) record.

I have the feeling that les will allow cam to implement more rollout passes this Yr and get the ball out to the flat to Guice and Fournette this Yr instead of all those vertical passes the last two Yrs, those low percentage throws that work 2 out of 10 times a game,I mean his job is on the line therefore this will lead to better QB play for the tigers should give the squad a very fair and legitimate shot at going undefeated in the month of November when it counts the most and QB-6 will finally live up to the hype. Barrett is a very good writer and I follow him a lot and he is dead on to a point but LSU finished 9-3 last YR with less experience on the team, less depth and a far worse defense on the field (which is the program's staple) than they will have going into the new season. QB-6 has to play a lot better than he did last Yr,I mean the team will have to improve from last Yr with all this experience and the beast in the backfield #7 so LSU is at least good for 11 wins in my estimation maybe pulling off a 12th win (u know les loves to play down to the competition at points in the season) yet les with all his bad coaching and 1985 style of offense can't hold this team back, too many athletes and too much experience this YR. Its time to put up or shut, if not this YR then when? no more excuses this Yr.lets GEAUX Tigers!

This is obviously a BS, biased prediction. If you go by recruiting classes and past results it makes sense to list Alabama first but using the same criteria how can you list Texas A&M ahead of LSU? They have lost 5 in a row.

I agree 100%. Less will find a way to screw it up and then not have enough sense to fix it when things start going south. I can't wait for him to get canned. Then, and only then, will I start going to games again. LSU Alum 2003

Thank you for your commitment to not go to the games, you're really sticking it to them! What a joke man! I can assure you the stadium is better place without so called fans like yourself in it...

This is pretty old news tbh. Pretty sure he said this in an interview on a podcast posted here a month ago. Must have been a slow day yesterday.

It truly amazes me how quickly people have forgotten the 2013 offense that featured a 3000 yard passer, two 1100 yard receivers, and a 1400 yard rusher.

And lost three games.

Carville, those 3 losses were clearly on the defense. That offense was potent.

During which season we...wait for it...finished 5th in the SEC. It amazes me how quickly people don't remember that part.

Love it when LSU is picked low

Okay, even if I take off the purple & gold glasses, I still think this is highly unlikely. As a Les Miles supporter (have done so since he arrived), if we finish 5th then I will finally say its time for him to go.

It's hard to argue with the logic. If you take off the purple and gold glasses and remember how absolutely, positively horrible we were last year in the November stretch it is certainly possible that we are an offensive train wreck again. Geaux Tigers!

He's 100% right about the offense, and he will be right. Miles will never change the offense that looks like a mud pile center smash 80% of the time.

5th in not only the SEC, but 5thin the SEC West ? surely something must be wrong. We have 18 returning starters, the early Heisman leader, a potential great defense, and a great incoming freshman class. It seems that people outside Louisiana feel something is amiss. Heaven forbid, but look !! On the sidelines for the 53 year , the infamous GoodOleLess. To quote a great scribe, yeah "the old master will still have his hand on the offense". Maybe all these people in those other states don't realize that to go with all our great players, coaches, home field advantage, defensive schemes, we still our head coach. 5thin the SEC West. If we finish 5th in the sec West, get the buyout counted out.
