News broke on Monday morning that LSU sophomore defensive back Kelvin Joseph has entered his name in the NCAA Transfer Portal and could be leaving the program.

By that afternoon, his father Kelvin Joseph Sr. told NOLA.com that his son is "not going anywhere" and explained what happened.
quote:

“He’s staying,” Kelvin Joseph Sr. said Monday (May 20). “He’s not going anywhere.”

Joseph entered his name into the portal Thursday after a meeting with LSU administrators following a trip to Florida in which he went on stage with Baton Rouge-native rapper NBA YoungBoy, his father confirmed.

Joseph made the decision without speaking to his father or Ed Orgeron, who is in California on vacation. His name didn’t officially show up in the portal until Monday, but by then the situation had been put to rest.

Good on the parent. Good on the kid to respect the parent. It will work out, stay and win a championship.

At least it sounds like he has a strong father figure that may be able to guide him through this kind of shite as he grows.

These young people need guidance in the worst way and social media is like a drug to them. They cant live without it. Really sad

Goes for the adults too. The kids are bad, but that's part of youth. Attacking kids' character without knowing any of the situations is par for the course with those who consider themselves mature adults.

For all the dummies who claimed “oh he’s scared of competition. Smh

Yeah, looks like the dummy was Joseph and his Dad set him straight. Stop defending an obvious poor decision Joseph made by acting like a child and putting his name up on the portal over some rap bullshitet.

@rob62, dummies were both LSU fans and Joseph. It's not just LSU fans, but this whole college football culture of attacking a guy's character because he decides to transfer, WITHOUT knowing the actual reason.

Great that he has a dad that cares about him.

If he entered because Admin was after him, but Coach O didn't know, I would imagine Coach O is pissed. You don't go chastise a coach's players without him being in the loop.

Sounds like dad got him right. He played as a freshman which was better than most ever get a chance to do. Would have started the bowl game if not for his own mistakes. Too many kids look for an easy way out instead of competing and earning it.

I don’t understand what putting his name in the portal and the rapper have to do with each other... can someone explain?

Maybe he was torn with becoming a rapper or football... lol

Just a shot in the dark here, but they way that reads, it seems LSU officials wanted a word with him after he went on stage at this rapper's show. This rapper's entourage was just involved in two deadly shootings in past week. He probably got mad at that and entered his name.
