Give Daniels a diaper with # 5. Perfect for a whiny cry baby ??

If you want to burn a bridge with a former team, teammates or fans -- this is the way to do it.

Guess ASU players were right about Jayden being toxic.

Daniels is being a selfish child on this one.

This is all so incredibly stupid

Feel bad he even has to address it.

RG3 video transcription:

Every Heisman Trophy Winner should have their number retired.

But this cease and desist letter is a COLOSSAL MISTAKE by Jayden Daniels' team for 3 reasons.

1) Jersey retirements are an honor.
- Not something to be demanded.
- Not something to strong are a school to do.

2) It creates a rift between Jayden Daniels and LSU fans, who are one of the most passional fan bases in all of sports.

Saying you feel profoundly disrespected and are being treated differently than Joe Burron forces LSU fans to choose between 10-3 Jayden Daniels and 15-0 National Champion Joe Burrow smoking a cigar. LSU fans will pick Joe BURREAUX every single time.

3) It creates a massive distraction for Jayden Daniels and Washington Commanders 3 weeks before the most important season of his career.

Timing is everything.

And this was the worst move for Jayden Daniels and his image to the masses possible.

---Too which Charlie Mac replied:

There is nothing like being loved by Louisiana. Ask Brees.
There is also nothing like being hated by Louisiana. Ask Nick

I like what RG3 had to say about this situation. Good video to watch. At work though so cant share.

Why wouldnt Daniels take a completely different approach. Establishing a number and essentially a legacy to point back to a player that had this number before, one that many behind him would say rhat this was worth wearing in order to live up to what was started. People who are leaders see things from this perspective versus, retire it and never use again at LSU because if how great I am or how unworthy others are. None of us know the motive but this is silly. There are too many other things going on that we can disagree about. At the end of the day…forever L S U!

Let’s think about this for a second: if Brian Kelly made Jayden Daniels a promise that he wouldn’t issue his jersey number after the 2023 season, then why would he turn around the very next year and promise someone else No. 5?

Kelly didn't know anyone's name let alone their number.

Never heard a dude say "Like I Said" so much and then proceed to say nothing.

JD5 should be his own man…..but this isn’t directly coming from Jayden Daniels. I would suggest you all watch “Quarterback” on Netflix, there’s your answer.

That was a tough listen

I personally would want to make my own number stand out.

What is gonna happen when DJ wins the Heisman? Asking for a friend.

Good for him I guess.

I think the best thing he could have said was "If it means that much to Jayden, then give me another number. "
user avatar

I think the best thing he could say is ‘Daniels needs to grow up and be a man’

Jayden got 5 from Nussmeier when he transferred to LSU, so why make a big deal when someone else wants it? It isn’t retired and LK didn’t promise him anything. If it wasn’t for Garrett being unselfish, JD doesn’t get the number to begin with.

Cannon, Burrow, and Daniels all won the Heisman. Shame on Pickett for making this an issue. He’s the one to blame. Hasn’t won shite.

Good for you Jayden. If LSU is not giving out numbers 9 & 20 then they should not give out 5.
user avatar
Popstiger20 hours
20 is retired. 9 is not. Personally I think they should unretire Cannon’s number and make it policy, no retiring numbers

Same. Not a fan of retiring numbers. Bama doesn’t do this and look how many Heisman Natties they have. Let’s do that.
