During Tuesday's episode of ESPN's 'Get Up,' Paul Finebaum said that this week will be LSU's last as No. 1 in the College Football Playoff Rankings.

quote:

"This will be LSU's last week as No. 1," Finebaum said. "Because next week, if Ohio State beats Penn State, LSU goes down."
LSU finishes the regular season at home vs. Arkansas and Texas A&M. A win vs. Arkansas on Saturday night will put the Tigers in the SEC Championship vs. Georgia.

Ohio State has Penn State and Michigan left on the schedule and will likely play Minnesota or Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship if they make it there.

Don't care as long as we are top 4 at the end of the season

An undefeated LSU will have a resume unlike anyone has seen before and should be #1 at the end of the regular season heading into the playoffs. Period

Unlike anyone ever seen before?? There been in defeated teams make it to the championship with plenty top teams they beat. But to be honest could care less if LSU is number 1 or number 4 as long as LSU win out is only thing that matters and put up a better defensive plan

Nah, but I do think we'll drop this week. After we put a beating on aTm, we jump back up to stay.

We all know Penn State is a bigger win than @ Alabama lol. What a clown.

Unfortunately I agree with his statement (partially, cuz we will jump back to number 1 after beating the pigs, faggies and leg humpers in Atlanta), but I disagree and shite on the national press/pundits/sniveling pussies who are going to allow Ohio State to jump LSU after this coming weekend.

But did OSU beat Alabama at Alabama?

This committee had penn state at #4 in week 1 of the CFP rankings. When Minnesota knocked off that (grossly overrated) #4 team, they were rewarded in kind. The committee has stated several times that they put Ohio State ahead of LSU because of how bad they were dominating their opponents week in and week out. Ohio state is going to absolutely dismantle both penn state and Michigan. The committee will not be able to rank them less than #1, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to justify ranking penn state at #4 in week 1. Without a doubt Ohio State will be #1 by end of regular season and probably will be come next Tuesday.

Whether it is true or not, the committee views or win at Alabama as us beating an Alabama with an injured QB.

2 of their 3 toughest games are back to back. We will see

If LSU wins out, including a win over UGA, they will be number one in the final CFP ranking. No other team will have the resume of LSU.
user avatar

This is the one. Beating #4 UGA would put us right back at #1.

I wouldn't trust the committee to be that logical.

So wait ... LSU has beaten four top 10 teams, including #3 Alabama on the road. Ohio State has beaten ... #20 Cincinnati and #8 Wisconsin. And if they beat a one-loss PSU team at home ... they'll jump LSU? I like Finebaum, but this logic is beyond flawed.

He's probably right though. College rankings have always been this stupid leap frog what have you done lately bullshite.

Who cares? 1, 2, 3, 4... makes no difference. All that matters is making the playoff.
user avatar
Brisketeer54 months
Exactly. There will be 4 really good teams and someone has to go through 2 of them for the title. You have to be better than the 3 other teams, no matter how the rankings end up.

You would rather be number 1. So you can play Oregon, Utah or a team like that. If you are 2 or 3 you gonna be playing Clemson in first round

Only thing that wld matter is how the seeds are matched to the semifinal bowl games. I don't remember if there assigned before or after depending on the locations of the 4 teams & their seeds? I doubt many LSU fans want back2back ATL Games (SECC & Peach Bowl) plus I wld def rather the Fiesta vs Oregon/Utah/Okla than the Peach vs Clemson or OSU bc Id much prefer beating either at the Sugar in Nawlins.

Paul is full of himself and thinks the sun rises and sets on Alabama and Auburn. Don't really care what he thinks. Said Alabama was going to be beat LSU and it was a sure thing. Go figure.

What gets me is this clown made his money through the SEC. sure he is based out of Bama but he would not be near the level he is without the SEC. last week he was kissing the committees arse to let Bama in. But this week he turns around and throws shade at LSU to hurt their season. If your going to support one SEC team support them all.

Finebaum is fricking retarded and always be fricking retarded, our starting safety has been playing with a bad ankle and the team just came off an emotional high against alabama and had to flip gears for ole miss. Let things play out you piece of shite

Reading comprehension not your strong suit? None of us really like the talking penis head, but his point is about strength of schedule remaining. And his point is valid. tOSU got no credit for running up the score against Rutgers & Maryland, and we won’t get much for doing the same against the piggies.

Yea because beating penn state at home means much more than beating Alabama in Alabama. fricking brilliant Paul.

Unless Ohio State dominates the teams on their remaining schedule, they are not jumping LSU. The CFP committee is not a bunch of emotionally immature sports writers, they actually look at the body of work. This is exactly why the BCS was so bad...teams would rise and fall based on weekly performances. I still remember the talk about, "It's better to lose early than late."

the pundits will use our D at Ole Miss to get us to # 2. The performance against Arky, A&M amd GA will be a factor.
user avatar
southsidedell54 months
@rbdallas...LSU absolutely HAS to play better on defense vs Arky and TAMU. Or they are gonna slide.

My most important question is personal. Why did I even tap a Paul Finebaum link? Wish I could insert banghead emoji here!
