Kansas University officially announced the hiring of Les Miles as the schools new head coach.
quote:

Miles will receive a five-year contract that will pay him $2,775,000 annually, with additional retention bonuses due in Nov. 2020 and Nov. 2022.

"Since the beginning of our search, we focused on identifying and recruiting an experienced head coach with a strong track record of success on and off the field," Long said. "Les Miles is exactly what we need for our program right now. His national reputation as a great recruiter and as a coach who student-athletes love playing for will enable us to break the cycle and return a winning tradition to the Kansas Jayhawks. We are thrilled to have Les and his family as Jayhawks."

"I am humbled by the opportunity to lead the KU football program and I am grateful to Chancellor Girod and Jeff Long for the opportunity," said Miles. "We will bring Jayhawk Football back and we will do it with outstanding coaches, tremendous student-athletes of character and ability and an unrelenting drive for excellence. My family and I cannot wait to be a part of the KU family!"

If it's bowl games Kanasa wants Les is the perfect person for that. He will be in a bowl game 9-10 years he's there and likely win most of them. He will get the best of the rest from Louisiana, Texas and Oklahoma then pull the best out of Kansas. Kansas State HC will retire bc of Les Miles. He may even get a few 5 stars to go there from Texas and Oklahoma. He will most certainly fill it with very good 3 star athletes and I also think he will break his power football trend and finally do things the modern way. Only reason he didn't do it at LSU is because he didn't feel the need with all those power backs he could get every year and twice a year in most cases. He was spoiled here at LSU with those big OL man and big RBs. He'll find an under the radar QB and have Kansas winning in no time. He's still a winning coach and that's won't change. He's just not a championship coach. He'll win lots of games though. I'm pulling for you Les Miles!!

Destiny. Les was either going to Kansas or Rkansas.

Glad he's not at Rkansas - would hate to have to hope he loses. With Kansas, I can pull for him to win every game - GO CLM.

The press conference was embarrassing. Les paused a great deal, forgot questions, rambled. I felt sorry for him, despite his salary.

High blood pressure, heart attacks and clock mismanagement coming to Kansas, ha ha ha.

Frank having a rough year at UTSA. He goes with Les the be OC and recruit. Then he takes it over in 3-4 years. My just-for-fun prediction.

I wanted Les Miles to leave LSU, but I very much like the person that he is, congrats Les Miles. And I wish you nothing but success.

I guess if Miles does a Charlie Weis on their redlegged azzes I could get on board the Jayturd/Miles train.

Les is a class act. No mistaking that but this seems like a chance to go out on the losing end. I think in just the few years Miles has been out of coaching, the game has passed him by even more. Wish him luck but pretty sure the Hayhawks will always suck hay.

agreed, I'm not seeing this as a positive for Les. Kansas is a terrible job and he'll have to bring in tons of players from out-of-state. Gonna be tough to win there, and a tough way to end a coaching career. Also, this is telling that Les had to stoop all the way down to Kansas to get another job.

As someone who is from North Carolina, and having parents that went to UNC, I can tell you Kansas only cares about one thing and it ain’t football. That’s the biggest problem ole less will have.

So you are from North Carolina and your parents went to UNC. What part of any of that makes you an official regarding Kansas?

@rob62 - he is saying that coming from someone who is relatively close to a basketball school (UNC) and has a history of playing Kansas, that Kansas was and always will be entirely basketball driven.

Talent is everything and he'll recruit decently but Kansas just isn't positioned well as a program. CLM will do right by them and position them for his understudy.
