Love him or hate him, Lane Kiffin has never been boring.

ESPN ranked LSU's first-year head coach No. 2 on its list of college football's greatest "supervillains" of all time, pointing to his headline-making coaching stops and predicting an explosive return to Oxford when the Tigers face Ole Miss in Week 3.

As for the No. 1 villain, it was Steve Spurrier.

But here's what they had to say about Kiffin:
quote:

2. Lane Kiffin

The Lane Train is worse at breaking up than Pete Davidson. But he also can't quit doing it. If you want to spend an uncomfortable hour, watch Al Davis' "I fired Lane Kiffin from the Raiders" news conference. At Tennessee, prospective students are shown Neyland Stadium, Ayres Hall and the giant rock on campus where it was painted "F--- Lane Kiffin" the night he bolted Knoxville for USC. He was fired from USC on the LAX tarmac. He was told by Nick Saban to go on and leave for Florida Atlantic instead of coaching in the national championship game because he was too distracted. And even after working so hard on changing how people viewed him, he couldn't help himself last fall when he exited Ole Miss for Magnolia Bowl rival LSU, and in the middle of what he continued to portray as an excruciatingly painful decision, he dropped a reference to "segregation" in a Vanity Fair interview when comparing his new gig to his old one.

When LSU visits Ole Miss the night of Week 3, it's going to be all the worst parts of the Ole, er, Old Testament, but instead of raining fireballs from heaven, it'll be pouring Fireball out of airplane bottles.

stupid article. Call him a "supervillain" if you want to. But this is just another case of the media stirring the pot hoping that something very bad will happen at the Ole Miss game so they will have something to write about. After all the only "news" worth writing about seems to be the BAD kind anymore

Too many figs at ESPN these days. All of those jobs save maybe USC (back then at least) are little brother jobs. He’s at a real program now.

Tenn is a real program and the Raiders are a real NFL team

ESPN reached out to Coach Kiffen for comment. His only response was: “frick you soft bitches”.

ESPN...did any of your reporters that did this story take an English class in high school? The story has very poor grammer and is very poorly punctuated!

Whatever happens in the future, I'm enjoying every moment we have with him as the so-called "conceived villain."

This was actually a funny article to read. I only disagree with their selections in that I think the NCAA would be number one.

Some complaints (Tennessee in particular was legit). Quoting Al Davis on ANYTHING is laughable! And Kiffin did NOTHING wrong leaving Ole Miss at the time he left. Blame the neverending playoffs, the transfer portal window timing, and the closeness to the final NSD. And Kiffin bent over backwards as she offered to not only coach Ole Miss throught the playoffs but also to let every coach stay there through the playoffs. That part of the article proves that the author of this is incredibly biased, football ignorant, or both.

I actually think that article is funny as hell. The commentary on all the others is hilarious.

I see the 1990 Hurricanes made the list due to the thrashing they put on Texas, while still amassing 200+ yards in penalties.

As the 4th quarter wound down I knew we’d be reminded of that game in perpetuity. Sigh…
