LSU has unveiled the alternate uniform and color changing helmet that players will be wearing Saturday against Mississippi State to honor the Silent Season of 1918. Per LSU:
quote:

One hundred years ago, LSU football players hung up their cleats for a greater cause. Many students and faculty of the Ole War Skule left the campus to serve in World War I, continuing the school’s military tradition and canceling the 1918 gridiron season.

In honor of those who did not return, 30 trees were planted in the Memorial Oak Grove with one additional tree dedicated to “The Unknown” missing in action.

To commemorate the century mark of the Silent Season of 1918, LSU will emerge Saturday, Oct. 20, from the Tiger Stadium chute in specially designed uniforms that salute the past and pay homage to heroes.

See more pictures and details of the uniform here.

The back story totally changed my mind on these. Infinitely better than digital camo uniforms lol

Those who are hating on these can eat shite. They not only have historical influence to WW1, but they look great when you consider what each part of the uniform symbolizes. Most of you fools probably can even read a 4th grade level anyway. So go find something else to bitch about

I like the symbolism. I know the players will be jacked to wear alternate unis. Let’s silence the bells. Geaux Tigers.

Watch the video people before you make up your mind. I thought I would hate it...but it’s really cool what they did. The purple changing to gold on helmets will be fun. Again..watch the video first.

Bad arse. Love it. Respect those that paid the ultimate sacrifice so we are able to watch these games in peace. Great idea. Great honor. Forever LSU.

Favorite part is the tiger emblem on the collar stripe. That said, just dominate State and I'll be more than content.
