LSU announced Monday afternoon that they will bear wearing their 'Gridiron Gold' throwback uniforms on Saturday against Mississippi State. Per LSUSports.net:

The "Gridiron Gold” uniforms feature Old Gold jerseys reminiscent of the color the Tigers wore during the 1940s. The uniforms are also highlighted by white helmets with the players' jersey numbers on either side of the headgear.

Other throwback elements include a vintage block "L” logo on right hip of the pants and the old school "Sailor Mike” logo on the collars of the jerseys.

"We're very excited to wear the old LSU colors and honor the past with this new uniform,” said LSU All-America running back Leonard Fournette. "It's a special moment for us to be able to wear it and represent Louisiana on the field. The uniform is a throwback; it's a classy look."
The last time LSU wore these jerseys was against Florida in 1998.

They look pretty sharp to me. LSU needs to design a jersey with a big red bulls eye to help our QBs throw more accurate passes.

I don't like the white helmets. All I can think about is Kentucky '95 and Ole Miss '15.

I like them a lot, but I would have left the "LSU" and the tiger on the helmet. I realize we had numbers too back in the day, but the letters and logo on our helmets are phenomenal. Why mess with it? Other than that I like. I would have liked to had seen the jersey purple with a metalic gold face mask. That'd be tight.

Probably didn't so it wouldn't work against the old logo on the jersey.

How is this a throwback to LSU? They look like grey pupon unis. Or maybe just like poop.

Those uniforms are sexier than Etling's passing in the 2nd quarter of last week's game.

For me, this alternate combo ranks at the top with the white pro combat used vs Auburn in 2011. Those ghost tiger stripes are hard to beat but this stands tall with it.

It's just an apparel deal. If they really wanted a "throwback" look, the old gold would be applied to the pants and helmets. Ironically, the brighter yellow they now wear was adapted because it was thought to look better on TV.

You do realize that we did that also? We have changed to put the tiger on the side of the helmet but this is also part of LSU history.

Pretty much everyone did that back in the day.
