LSU freshman tight end Arik Gilbert announced Sunday that he is transferring to Florida.

Gilbert, a former 5-star recruit from Marrieta, Ga., opted out of the season the week after LSU's loss to Alabama and entered the transfer portal on Jan. 5. He started in the first eight games for the Tigers, catching 35 receptions for 368 yards and two touchdowns.

Transfer portal is just another accommodation for entitled quitters. Suck it up and honor your commitment. Turning young men into babies. I’m ok with the portal for young men who have played three years and are looking to find an opportunity for paying time as a senior but not for disgruntled freshmen.

Don’t kid yourself. This was a major screw up on LSU’s part. Losing a player of this caliber this early and for no explainable reason? At best embarrassing. At worst, evidence of real and meaningful problems in the program.

I felt like it was a bad move for O to heap so much public praise on the guy before he even played a snap. Feeds into the entitlement syndrome.

If he had transferred to Alabama, he would be a 6-star recruit.

As talented as the kid is I just think LSU is better off without this headcase. We will be fine and plus the team played better without him. Wish him the best except when we play at Death Valley!

I wonder where he transfers next when Florida loses 4-5 games next season... again.

I hope he upgrades his announcement site next time to a Dollar General or Walmart.

Moss was a real tight end. Too bad Arik couldn't cut it.
