Cincinnati defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman was officially named the defensive coordinator at Notre Dame on Friday, the school announced.

Freeman interviewed with Ed Orgeron for the defensive coordinator position on Thursday but ultimately decided to stay in the midwest, which means the search for a new DC continues on.

No kidding. But who could turn down ND? Hoover? If that's the Hoover I'm thinking of you're right there in the flowing mane of the beast! Keep your head down!

And that’s why you don’t tell the world your top choice for DC is interviewing with you Thursday, fricking stupid. Don’t blow this more than you already did, O.

Dude, we all knew it unless you were living under a rock. Orgeron had to let it be known he was offering a black guy. If you don’t understand that then I guess you missed the fact that it was well publicized that LSU also interviewed Derrick Mason.
user avatar
CLT Tiger40 months
@rob62 why are you bringing race into this? Also, what does Mason being a candidate have to do with my post? I’m pissed bc O told the world Freeman was his number one choice and didn’t get him. Makes him/us look bad. I don’t care if he is black, white or purple.

CLT are you naive or stupid? Of course he let the world know he was interviewing black guys. You think I brought race into this? Did you miss 2020? What planet are you on?

Well, he’ll have an easy run to the playoffs more often. Get his arse stomped, but...

ND is only behind OU for butt whippins in the playoffs.

At least they made the playoffs. We finished .500 and lost to Missouri. Not the year to beat our chests.

1. He is a midwest guy 2. Orgeron will be on the hot-seat next year(job Security issues) 3. Brian Kelly has a better reputation as a Head Coach

A coach that routinely gets smoked in big games has a better reputation than the coach that put together one of the greatest years of all time?!

Moving trucks, highways, airplanes and more all exist now. I’m sure LSU would cover moving costs.

Hmmm either I can go where they fire the DC after having a bad first year Or I can go somewhere that a mediocre defense will go under the radar and if I have one good year I can get a HC offer
user avatar
CanebreakCajun40 months
Really? Bad year? It was the worst defense in the history of LSU

CBC Well should I have said good year? Don’t make me break out the Webster’s

Glad Pelini’s gone but let’s not act like this year was ‘Normal’. Have u happened to notice how Defense is MIA throughout CFB? Just look at tonight’s game. Bama avgs 48 ppg & OSU avgs 47 ppg!!

He is a Midwest guy who almost went to ND. I understand it. In all fairness, he may turn out to be a great coach but I never heard of the guy until they played UGA. Not a Tiger so he is Tiger Bait.

Why are some of you blaming Coach O? It's obvious to me Marcus Freeman just used the interview with LSU to get what he wanted from Notre Dame. I believe it was Notre Dame from the get go, I mean dude is a Midwest guy 100% and basically not playing the SEC schedule is a hell of a lot easier.
user avatar
tigersquad8940 months
So you believe that he came to LSU after he had already spoken to Notre dame in order to get Notre dame to hire him? This is one of the stupidest tales I’ve heard. Notre Dame knew LSU was interested well before this meeting.
user avatar
gulliblegump40 months
Not to hire him, but to pay him more money. It’s a common tactic for people who have experience negotiating.
