Cincinnati defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman was officially named the defensive coordinator at Notre Dame on Friday, the school announced.

Freeman interviewed with Ed Orgeron for the defensive coordinator position on Thursday but ultimately decided to stay in the midwest, which means the search for a new DC continues on.

Guy will go on to coach the "Fighting Leprechauns" as the DC and will never win a National Championship. If he would of accepted the Tigers DC position he'd have a real good chance of doing so.

Coach O needs to go get former AU & LSU D.C., Kevin Steele. He was the only D.C. to slow-down the 2019 LSU Offense and he has beaten AL more times than any other D.C. in the SEC! He's available so, let's Geaux!!

We don’t want a coach to come in and coast to retirement knowing there’s no incentive to move up or improve. That’s who Bo Pelini was.

And now we see if LSU has learned anything. Do they even have a list of other guys or are they gonna go into full blown panic mode? Why do you just select one guy and not interview others at the same time? Especially since your first pick is probably going to stay in the Midwest?

Big loss for LSU. Don’t believe the CNN reporters on “O” is difficult to work with. 99.99999999% don’t even know the man or met the man.......much less was able to shake his hand.

More than anything, it probably boiled down to job security. CEO may be difficult to work with if you’re not his baw

Correct. Just like he got the job from Les Miles' misfortune, he seems to be one who will not bring on a young coordinator "star" like Freeman for fear of them ascending to his job.

He wanted to hire Freeman. He hired Joe Brady. He hired two young offensive assistants. I swear the shite that pops into some of your heads.

Great effort, Coach O and LSU administration! Wives have to be happy, also. Sounds like the guy’s heart said LSU, but his family said we live in the Midwest. Could shoulda woulda has no end. It is easy to forget they have no beginning. May we get the next best high energy, focused, rah, rah DC available and get on down the road to our next Championship.

It's just a bad PR strategy to go on a show and say who your #1 choices are. No upside to that whatsoever. You can always list a bunch of names and not tell the world.

Best of luck to him. He seems like a good man. Now get him off the front page.

This is good news, he would not have stayed more than one year.

SEC schedule scares people with no chest. Good news we were just a stepping stone for him, maybe we can find a good DC who does not aspire to be a HC.

That’s Joe Pelini. The coaches who want bigger jobs are usually the best ones. The ones who stay for a long time, outside of Brent Venables, are usually average.

Bo** lol. although if there were a Joe Pelini he probably sucks too.

“maybe we can find a good DC who does not aspire to be a HC.“ - This doesn’t exist. But should LSU find one they ought to Run Away screaming & never return.

Good. Can we remove him from the front page?

Notre Dame has the easier schedule. And clearly don’t mind losing in big games.

Why are some of you blaming Coach O? It's obvious to me Marcus Freeman just used the interview with LSU to get what he wanted from Notre Dame. I believe it was Notre Dame from the get go, I mean dude is a Midwest guy 100% and basically not playing the SEC schedule is a hell of a lot easier.

So you believe that he came to LSU after he had already spoken to Notre dame in order to get Notre dame to hire him? This is one of the stupidest tales I’ve heard. Notre Dame knew LSU was interested well before this meeting.

Not to hire him, but to pay him more money. It’s a common tactic for people who have experience negotiating.

Because O told the world he was our number one choice and didn’t get him. Makes him look like a clown.
