LSU senior punter Zach Von Rosenberg, a 30-year old from Zachary, La., announced Sunday that he will be entering the NFL Draft. Per The Advocate:

The Zachary native was one of the most consistent members of LSU's special teams, and, at 30 years old, his age made him a leader within the locker room which often made endearing jokes about how old he was.

Indeed, Von Rosenberg became the oldest player in college football when 33-year-old Colorado kicker James Stefanou retired midseason. The Zachary native spent six years playing minor league baseball before joining LSU, and he will leave campus having been named to the Freshman All-SEC, SEC Academic Honor Roll and All-SEC teams.

Well, since no one drafts punters period, you're technically right. But if you think he's not an NFL punter, you're very, very wrong.

Punters hardly ever get long-term contracts, so I doubt they are worried about his age. Whether he's drafted or signs as a UDFA, some team will take a strong look at him being their punter for the next 5-7 years or so. He's an outstanding punter.

"No one is drafting a 30 year old punter" ... punters can play until they're 40. It's not like other positions where the shelf life is very short.
