Multiple reports surfaced on Friday afternoon that former five-star linebacker Clifton Garrett is transferring from LSU.

Shortly after, LSU Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette confirmed the news and said that Garrett has already left the football program.

As a highly sought-after five-star prospect from Plainfield, IL, former LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis was able to get Garrett to commit to the Tigers' 2014 Recruiting class.

According to The Advocate, a shoulder injury hampered Garret who barely saw any playing time during the 2014 season.

With the departures of Kwon Alexander and D.J. Welter, Garret was expected to see more action on the field this upcoming season, but recorded just one tackle during LSU's Spring Game this past April.

It has not been determined where Garrett is headed to continue his football career.

I was more excited about him than almost any recruit that year but his AA performance showed him to be slow on pass D and reads. Not surprised if he is getting passed up by other players.

@HailHailtoMichigan!

I guess you missed the part where we signed 0 linebackers in our 2015 class. We are going to be forced into a 3-4 by the time 2016 rolls around.

The fact that he didn't see the field last year was already reason for concern; now next year, knowing he would be able to step right in, yet now he transfers is pretty strange. You have to think the staff felt he didn't have what it takes to play MLB for LSU. I wish him luck, but I think his future lies with a small school.

As someone who works in Tigerland, I know he spent plenty of time at the bars...

I guess he thought he was never going to see the field and it didn't look like he ever was. Apparently he wasn't quite as good as we thought he was.

Don't be shocked when this guy ends up at aTm after a year in junior college. He's missing his Chavis.
